Jokowi: At 10.17 Exactly Take a Perfect Attitude, Pay Respect to Red and White
President Joko Widodo or Jokowi invited the public to watch the 75th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony through virtual broadcasts on YouTube and television. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Presidential Palace did not invite the public to attend and carry out a joint ceremony.
"You can watch the flag-raising ceremony and various crowd of 17s virtually on the YouTube homepage and through broadcasts of all national television, tomorrow on Independence Day, August 17, 2020," Jokowi said in his Instagram post, Sunday (16/8).
Jokowi also asked the public to take a perfect stance at 10.17 WIB. And pay homage to the red and white.
"At exactly 10:17 WIB, let's simultaneously take a perfect attitude and pay homage to the Saka Merah Putih," said Jokowi.
Previously, State Secretariat Minister Pratikno explained that the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia would still be held at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta . However, the ceremony was held with a limited number of participants due to the implementation of the Covid-19 protocol.
"The August 17 ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, the ceremony remains solemn, but with limited participants. All components involved in the ceremony were present there, including Paskibraka, but in limited numbers," said Pratikno.
Pratikno added that the public could attend virtually the independence day commemoration. He hopes that the community can actively participate.
"We introduce a new tradition later at the ceremony. When the song 'Indonesia Raya' is played, we invite the Indonesian people to stop their activities for a moment, stand tall, solemnly," said Pratikno.
