Trump's demand to buy Tik Tok app was criticized
United States (US) President Donald Trump has defended his demand for Microsoft or other companies in the country to buy China-based social media app TikTok.
However, Trump's actions were opposed and criticized on the grounds that it was unconstitutional and seemed like extortion.

Trump says a large number of TikTok purchase prices should go into the US Treasury and Microsoft agrees, but Microsoft has not given any statement yet.
Trump on Monday said he was willing to approve an agreement to sell TikTok assets to Microsoft or another U.S. company after warning of a national security ban, but maintained that it would ask for the bulk of any transactions related to the matter to be included in the U.S. Treasury.
Director of Technology Policy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, James Lewis, said the action could be likened to mafia tactics in Russia.
Meanwhile, University of Texas law professor specializing in national security and constitutional issues, Bobby Chesney, said it was not a good policy, unacceptable, unconstitutional and without a basis in law.
Former Federal Prosecutor Michael Bromwich said in a statement on Twitter that Trump's demands were like extortion, referring to a law known as the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
The Wall Street Journal reporters Spencer Jakab and Dan Gallagher wrote the view that Microsoft should reject something excessive.
"If the proposal is serious and considered legitimate, it would be dangerous to seize foreign business through legal regulations and open the door for US firms to experience the same thing.
"If the price includes an improper payment to the US Treasury, American corporate companies will lose much more than profit by participating," he said.
Tik Tok became a political and trade debate between Washington and Beijing in which the US stated that TikTok collected user personal data that could be accessed and used by the Chinese government for intelligence and other purposes, but was denied by TikTok.
