Emergency landing of SpiceJet at Dumdum Airport. The SpiceJet took off at 3 p.m., and as soon as it took off, a fire alarm sounded in the cockpit. As a result, the pilot and first officer of the aircraft decided to land the aircraft on an emergency basis.
They then sent an emergency message to the airport's ATC. State Police DG Birendra and state security adviser Surjit Kar were on board the plane with 164 passengers on board at the time.
The plane landed at Dumdum Airport 13 minutes after takeoff. The airline said all passengers and crew were unharmed. It is also known that the Boeing 737 was 8 years old.
The airline then tried to send all the passengers to Bagdogra on another alternative. However, it has not been possible to land at Bagdogra airport that night due to some restrictions.
