Health Workers in Yogyakarta become virtual (APD) Fashion Show Models

Eight health workers at Dr. Sardjito General Hospital waddled on the catwalk by exhibiting self-protection equipment (APD) made by a number of MSMEs in Yogyakarta, Saturday (1/8). PPE clothing, which is usually used by medical personnel to treat COVID-19 patients, is made fashionable but still meets health standards.

The virtual APD fashion show that involved eight health workers was conceived by GM Production, Sambat Jogja (Sanjo), ID Photobook and SME producers of APD in Yogyakarta.

CEO of GM Production Indonesia, Yurry Apretto said the event titled Virtual Fashion Show Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is a form of gratitude to health workers who have fought on the front lines to fight the Corona virus pandemic.

"This event is a form of appreciation, a form of our thanks to the health workers who have fought in the frontline to handle COVID-19," said Yurry at the GM Production studio, Depok District, Sleman Regency.

Yurry explained that besides paying tribute to the medical staff, this virtual PPE fashion show that was held was also to appreciate the local SMEs that produce PPE. Yurry said that in addition to being fashionable, this UMKM PPE also used standards set to deal with COVID-19 patients.

"This is a historic moment for Yogyakarta to be able to help each other to get back to turning the economy. All of the PPE on display are all local MSME products. All of them have been tested according to the standards used for medical personnel," said Yuri.

One of the healthcare workers who became APD models, Haris Yulianto claimed to appear on the catwalk for the first time. Moreover, walking on the catwalk while wearing PPE as when carrying out duties as health workers.

Haris said that he felt happy to join the virtual APD fashion show. If you usually use PPE with conditions to protect from being infected with COVID-19. This time he used the PPE to support the work of local SMEs.

"Yes, this is my first experience as a model. Usually I use PPE just right at the hospital. When it comes to heat, all PPE is hot. But this one is more comfortable," said Haris.

Meanwhile the Managing Director of Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Rukmono Siswishanto explained that the PPE used in fashion shows was judged to be in accordance with standards both in terms of materials and workmanship. Regarding fashion and color issues, Rukmono explained that Dr. Sardjito Hospital was not a problem as long as it was in accordance with standards because the purpose of PPE is to protect health workers from transmission of COVID-19.

"Indeed, the PPE was eligible to prevent COVID-19. When it comes to fashion, color, everything has no problem," said Rukmono.
