The laugh at the end says it all | Kramnik vs Nakamura | World Blitz 2019

Vladimir Kramnik

Kramnik's rise was meteoric. The young Russian provincial talent was detected by the famous Botvinnik School and when Kasparov personally advocated the inclusion of the 16-year-old in the Kramnik Olympic team, he did not disappoint, achieving 8.5 out of 9 points and the best performance of the tournament. Three years later, Kramnik became the youngest player to reach number 1 on the world list, a mark recently beaten by Magnus Carlsen.

Hikaru Nakamura

Nakamura was born in Osaka, Japan to a Japanese father and an American mother, and moved with his parents to the United States when he was two years old. He started playing chess before he was five years old and was trained by his Sri Lankan stepfather, FIDE teacher and chess author Sunil Weeramantry. At the age of 10 years and 79 days, he achieved the title of Chess Master of the United States Chess Federation (USCF), being the youngest American to achieve the title.
