Topic 1: Healthcare Data Privacy and Ownership

The new technology Blockchain will help to break silos of private data that are not owned by companies and institutions. The tracing apps developed in Europe and USA during the pandemic didn't work or helped to control the pandemic situation.
It is expected that Blockchain can be used in several use cases and applications like:

  • Health passport (to allow health control clearance for travelling)
  • Medical data, to optimize, agile and improve healthcare operations and bring more satisfaction to users of the health system.

It is needed to create confidence in the population by bringing value with trustful and useful data which can improve the everyday activities. To BUILD A TRUSTFUL ECOSYSTEM with findable, accessible and reusable public and private data is a must. Europe is working on the compliance, governance and standards to be applied to the ecosystem. USING DATA IN A GOOD WAY AND WITH A GOOD PURPOSE.

Topic 2: Powering Clinical Trials with IOT and Blockchain

IOT (Internet of the Things) and Blockchain can be applied to improve the medical trials to assess and address in real time the problems of patients and decide on treatments, medicine, etc. There will be a combination between IT and Blockchain on the IOMT (Internet of Medical Things) to allow access to the latest current data and documentation of patients. This data can also be used to develop vaccines and medicine using the results of the medical trials. We need collaboration and synergy of all stakeholders: audience, pharma-ledger, technical, business, public institutions.

Topic 3: Can Blockchain Prevent the Problem of Counterfeit Drugs?

The trading and commercialization of illegal drugs and medicine is continuously increasing in Europe. Blockchain is a technology that can leverage the power of digital innovation to help to control the spreading of fake drugs for different treatments. Examples of this are the use of:

  • Nanotechnology and blockchain to identify by means of a printing stamp/code and trace the security of a product.
  • Improve the security supply chain: traceability/track/chain

Topic 4: Verifiable Credentials for COVID-19 Data Management

COVID_traceability.PNG

Blockchain and DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) can help to create a data system in which it is possible to easily verify and prove that an individual is COVID-19 negative tested across boarders. Another revolutionary research is the tokenization of BioData, meaning tokenizing and creating NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) which can be used in a Blockchain environment to demonstrate the Health-Pass Clearance for an individual across boarders.

Topic 5: Understanding Institutional-Grade Crypto Custody

The tokenization of assets bring the necessity to create a secure ecosystem, governance, trust, regulations and standards for operation. The challenges are: security, scalability (able to get more users), connectivity and interoperability of the system. Switzerland is an example of a crypto-friendly country and it is going ahead with the idea of tokenization of bonds, securities by involving companies, institutions and cantons. NFTs will be in future part of the custody services of a bank. In Europe a harmonization is needed and it is under discussion.

Topic 6: DLT & Crypto for Financial Services

The interoperability of the digital assets and smart contracts will need to take advantage of the benefits of Blockchain and DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) to enhance interconnection between nodes and across boarders. The DLT and the creation of the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) will revolutionize the dynamics of the finance and custodial services in banks. The bank of tomorrow is arising (clients, security first, interoperability across borders, cash-chain, network).

Blockchain must be right for all. It shall contribute to inclusion and reduce the gap between society levels. It shall be an inclusive technology with the aim to reach, give value and financially include all individuals. Stellar Foundation has different projects for example in Nigeria and Argentina with the aim to educate people on these new technologies and their possibilities (payments, access to finance, etc). The aim is to solve people's problems around the globe in a transparent, inclusive, and trustful way. It is necessary to make a bridge between stakeholders. Interesting Links:

Summary:

  • China has already a CBDC (not Blockchain)
  • Europe and USA discussing about CBDC
  • Future: combination between current traditional system and decentralized
  • Blockchain and traditional systems will work together. Traditional system seems to be more user-friendly (eg. older adults)
