Showcase Sunday: Landscape Study

It's Sunday again, so here's another throwback from an old post. I've been a little MIA for the last few days because I went on a little family trip. I normally just take my Microsoft Surface when I travel, which I did again, but unfortunately my power cable completely crapped out on me. I'm not really much for writing posts on the phone, so I've just been stuck for the last few days, but back home now and on my main computer so I feel whole again lol.

A few details on this piece. This is from a time where I was still doing a lot of brush experimenting in Photoshop. I've sort of found a set that I like at this point that lets me do everything I want to do, but this was part of the process of finding it.

Also captured a bit of the process here as well.

I've still been reading everything that's going on and feel like I've got at least 2 more Steem related posts bubbling to come out, but I think they'll take some time to write up. Stay tuned for those. See you all in the next post!

Wow, the photos are amazing :D

Thanks for sharing them with us!

Makes my heart feel peaceful. You really capture the light well that is not easy to do.

Thanks @twirble :) Glad you like it.

My first definition of "landscape" is orientation rather than content so I was momentarily puzzled XD That's such a gallery piece.

You can draw on the Surface? Well that settles it, I'm definitely defective XD

Haha, it's funny that that's become the "first" definition of that term for you, but I guess it makes sense since that's probably used a lot more often. And yea! Surfaces are great to draw on, I'm thinking about getting a new one because the one I have doesn't have pen tilt.

Nice XD I got a Surface Pro because I'd heard such good things about them and figured it would be lighter to travel with especially on weekenders (one less piece of kit to haul!).

Alas it brought my long-running hatred of Windows back to the...uh...surface x_x (so much so I now don't even want the MobileStudio Pro I've been greedily coveting since I learned of its existence) and also I really, really notice the difference in pressure sensitivity between my SP4 and my CCH (apparently nobody notices the difference). I had high hopes dammit! XD

Really beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us!

It is nice to feel whole again :))))
And very beautiful and peaceful picture.

a few details? On one hand i feel like there's literally no details in this painting, just scrubby shapes and colors, then on the other hand, it looks freakishly realistic.

I mean, how?(i am scratching my head)

I can see that none of that is actual rocks or water or trees, but why do they look so real? I have no idea how some artists do this..... But i really really really want to learn this.
Can you tell me about that brush set?

Haha, thanks @masummim50 :) In general, it's impressionism. In the end there's nothing particularly special about the brushes, just a lot of tweaking the settings to get the results I want.

In terms of the realism, I'd say at the end of the day it's just shapes colors and values. If those things are correct, then it will read as realistic :)
