Makin Planets
This started out as another Fusion project but by the end I just made a still because I was over it. Maybe I'll call this a work in progress and throw it out there that this may at some point have a spaceship and some animation.
What I was aiming for was a matte painting, which in this case would be a 3D base, with some painting on top that then gets projected on the geometry in Fusion, that way I can animate the camera and still have all the detail of my painting.
This is what it looked like straight out of Cinema 4D. In 2D I added the atmosphere, more detail in the clouds, space background and other bells and whistles. Here's a little process gif of that.
The 3D setup is really simple, 2 spheres, a cloud sphere and the planet sphere. The clouds layer also drives the transparency of that sphere so you can see through to the planet sphere. That's about it, maybe tomorrow I'll make it move or do something totally different, we'll see. See you all in the next post!
It's beautiful, and an artwork well done. It really does give you the eerie feeling of being out in space.
Thanks @zacknorman97!
