This is sort of a board game and can take up to 12 players at a time. It will require daily participation. If you are interested in playing, please sign up in the replies below. The first 12 players to sign up get to participate. If there are less than 12 players signed up after 24 hours of this post going up, it will either begin with those players or be postponed if less than 3 sign up.

Rules

Each player will have 1 action per turn. An action is a move of 1 space, picking up an item or an offensive action (fighting). On the first day ONLY they get up to 4 actions to allow them to spread out.
After all players have completed their action(s), the zombies will take their turn, except if the zombie has just spawned (see 'spawning' below). Zombies will attack when in a player's square.

Zombies get 1 action per turn (except for Runners who can move 2 spaces per turn) and will begin to move after killing the player(s) in its space. All zombies will inflict 1 damage to players if they make a successful hit and can only fight if they are in the same square as a player. The movements of non-player zombies will be towards noises made by live players, towards the closest live players they can see, and by dice rolls where there are multiple options.

  • If a player is in the same square as a zombie, they MUST engage in combat and cannot run away (except if they land on the arrows icon).
  • Players sharing a space (after the initial peace-time) MUST engage in melee unless there is another target present, in which case they may attack the other target first.
  • Runners and walkers can be killed with a single damage point.
  • The hulk requires 2 damage points to kill it.

Players take 3 damage before they die. After being killed, they will re-spawn (as many times as they are killed) at the player starting square as a Walker and their player number will show a blood splatter to indicate they are a zombie. As a zombie, they take on all characteristics of a Walker (inflict 1 damage and are killed with 1 damage) and can begin moving as soon as they re-spawn at the start point (the following game day). Zombie players can no longer claim the prize, however they can move through dark areas freely!

Please pay attention to the moves that have transpired before you, so that your choices are based upon facts as they are and not as they were before (the people that played before you just altered the situation).

Hearts, traps, bonus move arrows and treasure chests will be discovered when moving through the dark. Those items disappear from the board once they have been used. These are not inventory items, so do NOT cost an action; simply state that you want to claim a heart or which direction you wish to move for the arrows move. Traps apply automatically when stepped on and cause 1 damage. If you encounter a guarded chest, you must fight the skeleton. The guard does not move around and will continue to guard the chest until it is killed.

Weapons

  • baseball bats do 1 damage and all players will be issued one. NOTE that permanent weapons are not used in this game but you may use your consumable chits.
  • Axe does 2 damage and can be found inside treasure chests. Smash open (optional) a chest to get the axe (automatically picked up and does NOT cost another action) with a roll of 4 to 6. If you find a chest guarded by a skeleton then you must kill the skeleton but smashing open the chest is optional. The skeleton requires just 1 hit point to kill.
  • Note that the axe is heavy enough that it can swing through an enemy and hit a second enemy if there are 2 or more enemies in the same square! As an example: If we have a Hulk and a Walker both attacking a player with an axe and the Hulk already suffers one damage, a successful attack would finish off the Hulk and kill the Walker in one action!
  • Killed players who managed to pick up an axe will drop it for other players to pick up at the cost of an action.
  • Use my online tool to roll a dice to see if attacks are successful or not. A roll of 1 to 3 is a miss. A roll of 4 to 6 is a hit.

Spawning

Each time a player moves into an un-charted space (blacked out), new zombies spawn (in that space) based on dice rolls. If a zombie is spawned, it must wait until the following day before it can attack.
6 spawns a Hulk, 5 spawns a runner, 4 spawns a walker and 3, 2 or 1 spawns nothing.

Player actions

Each player will announce their intended actions in the replies to each daily post.
Tell me your player number and what you intend to do. You may either MOVE (N,S,E or W), STAY or ATTACK.

For example: Player 3; Move North. (If entering an uncharted area, roll a dice to see what is in there.)
Alternatively: Player 3; Attack player 2. (roll a dice to see if the attack was successful or not.)
In both cases, player 3 made 1 action and their turn is over.

Players MAY NOT attack another player for the first 2 days of play (4+1=5 actions)!



I will update the board with new player positions and zombie positions for the next day's play.

The object of the game is to be the FIRST to reach the objective (labelled with an X) and claim a BONUS ACTION chit that can be used in future games.
