Hello everyone,

I'm so excited to participate in this great contest which is organized by @sabbirrr. Thank you so much @sabbirrr for giving everyone the chance to participate in this contest.

I'm from Sri Lanka. So there is a lot of traditional food in our country. Here I share a full recipe of one of our traditional food which is known as Halapa. This is a very healthy food which is made from Kurakkan Flour. There are 2 parts in this food as the filling and the wrap. Now let's make some Halapa.

Ingredients (For the filling)

We have known this filling as Honey Coconut('Pani Pol' in Sinhala).

✔ 3cups of Grated coconut
✔ 2 Cardamom
✔ 1/2 cup of Water
✔ 8 tbsp of Sugar

Steps to make

❶ First, get a pan and keep it on the stove with low flame. Put 1tbsp of sugar and a little bit of water to it. Cook it until it turns to caramel. It takes dark brown color at this moment.

❷ Then, add all the sugar, cardamom, and the rest of the water into the pan. Mix all together until it turns into honey.

❸ Finally, add all grated coconut and again mix it all together. Keep it for about 5 minutes on the stove with low flame and after 5 minutes switch off the flame and keep it aside. Now the filling is ready!

Ingredients (For the wrap)

✔ Kanda leaves
✔ 400g of Kurakkan Flour
✔ 1/2 tsp of Salt
✔ Slightly warm water (as required)

Steps to make
➊ First, wash all Kanda leaves and swipe those. Keep those aside. (I don't know the exact English name for these leaves. You may have seen these leaves. I have shared a picture of a Kanda Tree below)

➋ Take a bowl and put the Kurakkan flour into it. Then add salt and add water gradually to it.

➌ Then mix all together until it turns into a dough.

❹ Separate that dough into little parts. Then, take a Kanda leaf and apply some coconut oil to it. Thinly slice the separated dough on the Kanda leave as shown in the picture.

❺ Then put a little bit of Pani Pol on it and fold the leave as shown in the picture.

❻ Keep a pot with half of the water on the stove until the water gets to boil. Take another pot with holes and keep it on that water pot.

❼ Finally, Put some Halapa into the pot to boil those. Then boil those for about 10 minutes and you can see the color of leaves turns into another color. Now you can taste some Halapa.

Pani Pol and the wrap make a great combination together. This is so delicious and a very healthy kind of food for anyone. Hope you guys like the recipe and will give it a try too!
