Peucicap

Peucicap is one of a series of traditional Acehnese ceremonies performed after the mother gives birth.
In peucicap babies are introduced to several flavors of food for the first time sour, salty and sweet. This tradition is like an exercise for babies to be able to distinguish between one taste and another.

The introduction of sweetness to babies according to Acehnese customs is very important. Giving a sweet taste contains the hope that when he grows up the child will have good morals, which is represented by a sweet taste.

Aqiqah

Tradition as a thanksgiving to welcome the birth as well as the arrival of the baby as a new family member. Usually at this peucicap event, it is done at the same time as aqiqah, namely the slaughter of goats for feasts. If the baby is a boy, 2 goats must be cut and if the baby is a girl, only one goat is enough.

The provisions for slaughtering have several conditions, namely that the goat to be slaughtered must be male, not female, and this has been done for a long time and has been passed down from generation to generation for the people of Aceh.

Hand over the slaughtered animal and all the materials needed for the feast to the traditional leaders in the local village, those who will call the Gampong youth as workers in the ceremony. Then the animal was slaughtered by Tengku, then cooked together and ate together.

Invited guests to eat nasi kenduri.

Another condition that must be heeded is that the cooked meat must be consumed on the same day, if it is not used up, the gravy and cooked meat are distributed to relatives and neighbors.

The philosophy contained in this activity is believed that the child will act and do something in the future and will always get instructions, finally after peucicap with sweets on aneuk manyak which aims to make him a child who is obedient to religion and becomes a child who dares to defend the truth and dares to fight crime.
