Good life steemians and mabuhay!
Farming has been a major patterns of subsistence. Human cultural evolution took a major growth with the discovery of farming. It brought about a lot of changes as man begin to settle in permanent places and build cities because of food security. The necessity of farming means that the survival of our nation. It supplied the needed food for a growing nation. Thus, it led to building civilization and cultural evolution.
Philippines is an archipelago, the means of living relied heavily on fishing and farming. We had a personal experienced of harvesting rice fields when we went to Sinandigan Bohol Philippines. My mother in law originated in this marvelous and abundant land, which is also home of the famous Chocolate Hills. Aside from this natural wonders, it is one of the main supplier of locally produce rice in the Visayas. Our experienced was simply amazing as we harvested the rice and process it to get rice grains.
If you think planting rice is easy as 1-2-3, think again because we still stick to the traditional way of plowing the field using our trusted farming buddy the "Philippine Carabao." After tilling the land you begin the planting with proper irrigation and of course a lot of prayers that there won't be any problems like an attack of pest or even natural disasters like typhoons.
Farming is a lot of labor from preparing the land, planting the rice seedlings, proper irrigation, applying organic fertilizers, harvesting and processing. Not to mention, the challenge to transport your rice product from farm to market. In this picture, my wife got a chance to separate the rice grains. It was tough but she managed very well.
After a long week of hard work we now reaped the rewards of our labor. This freshly produced rice grains will now be processed to transform it into flavorful rice. In conclusion, farming is never an easy work however it is simply rewarding.
