The beauty of Mount Bromo is not only famous in Indonesia but also in foreign countries. Deserts, savanna, and volcanic craters are some of the charms that have become icons of East Java.

Mount Bromo is one of the active volcanoes located on the border of Lumajang, Malang, Pasuruan, and Probolinggo regencies. Its charm makes me and my friends want to visit it.

Our main goal is to see the sunrise from the phenomenal top of Bromo. Around 02.00 am, we departed from the inn, which the located in Batu. The inn is quite far from Mount Bromo, so we had to leave early.

Because it was still the middle of the night, the scenery during the trip was not so pleasant, all that could be seen as a dark road flanked by forest on the left and right of the road.

After a long journey by bus, until we found a winding road, we changed vehicles, because the next road could not be reached by bus. We continued our journey using a Jeep Hardtop.

Sunrise at Penanjakan

We arrived at the top of the Penanjakan with an altitude of 2780 masl at 04:30 am. It's a late time to see the sunrise. We should have moved from the inn earlier. Even though it was a little late and the sun had started to shine, we still enjoyed the remnants of the sunrise and watched the charm of Mount Bromo from a height.

That day the weather was also not very supportive, the fog seemed thick, so the sunrise was not too visible. The beautiful silhouette of the mountain with the expanse of clouds is solace.

The weather here is so cold. We wear thick clothes complete with gloves, masks, and skullcaps (head cover). Visitors at that time were quite crowded, both foreign and domestic. They have the same goal, to see the sunrise in the morning.

The crater of Mount Bromo with billowing smoke, slightly hiding behind Mount Batok with the backdrop of the towering Mount Semeru. Mount Bromo is the main panorama at this location and includes the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area.

Mt. Bromo Crater

It's not complete if you get here but don't see the crater of Mount Bromo directly. To get to the crater of Bromo, we passed through the savanna desert for 1.5 km. The trip can be on foot or rent a horse that is waiting to take us to the foot of Mount Bromo.

While walking, I also passed Luhur Poten Temple. The location of the temple in the middle of the desert makes this temple look so exotic, plus the use of natural black stone from a nearby volcano as a building material.

After passing through the sandy hills, I reached the foot of the mountain and the bottom of the stairs. To see the crater of Mount Bromo, I have to conquer about 250 steps. Quite tiring, but paid off with the charm that is displayed in front of the eyes.

There are also many residents peddling merchandise in the form of Edelweis flowers, which are commonly known as Eternal Flowers. Many visitors make this flower as a souvenir.

Teletubbies Hill

Our next destination is the savanna or known as Teletubbies Hill. The place of located in the southern crater of Mount Bromo. This place is cold, very different from the arid desert atmosphere.

That is a perfect and complete view. From the beautiful sunrise, the splendor of Mount Bromo Crater, the desert, and the meadows. This destination is the last adventure on Mount Bromo.
