Weekly Cooking Contest Week#08: LUGAW OR PORRIDGE WITH EGG
Hello good day! I am fruityapple00 from Philippines and thank you @sabbirrr for initiating this beautiful contest
This is porridge or glutinous rice gruel or in Philippines it is called LUGAO or LUGAW . I am gonna cook Lugaw for my breakfast for this morning , you can also cook and eat this one for your snacks . Lugaw includes various dishes both savory and sweet but for this morning I like to have savory for my Lugaw 😊☺️
Lugaw is a widely regarded as a comfort food in the Philippines and it is also simple rice porridge traditionally prepared in the Philippines.Lugaw can cook also for a plain one or plain porridge that only requires rice water and salt then rhe second version is you can add more flavour in it like you can add chicken , eggs (which is called arroz caldo , referred by a Spanish name)
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup of rice
- soy sauce
- salt
-pepper
-vegetable oil
-3 cups of water
-minced garlic
-spring onions
-ginger
-2 eggs
-chicken cubes
- Clean the 1 cup of Rice then Drain the water when it’s done.
Pour the cooking oil into a medium saucepan and set the saucepan on the stove/butane over medium heat only.
Saute first the 1tbsp of ginger for a minute to infuse the flavor in the oil
- after that add spring onions and the minced garlic to the oil and cook and stirring frequently for about 1 minute or until it’s translucent
- Add and Saute the rice for 2 minutes and stir it well
- add the 1tbsp soy sauce and 1/2 ground pepper for the season of the Lugaw , you can also add a pea of salt .
- add 3 cups of water then wait until it is boiled
- When it is already boiled since I do not have chicken you can add the Chicken broth cube and cover and simmer it for 30-40 minutes , then you have to mix it sometimes , as you can see also I add egg there to make hard boiled egg for my toppings.
- Add the 1 pc of Egg then mix it well for like 5 minutes
- Wait for 20 minutes and sometimes do the stirring until the texture becomes thick
- Then done , serve it while it’s still hot
