It's actually a privilege to be part of this contest and am giving it my best to make my entry by sharing my cooking experience.
So, today I was confused on what exactly to cook and the thought of this contest made me opt for jollof rice which is a known and general dish for all nations.
I prepared and got my ingredients ready for the food.
Jollof rice is one of the most cherished foods in Africa and thus is my favorite food... It is that one food I don't get tired of eating and I have different ideas and methods of preparing any of my choices jollof rice whenever I want to and so today I prepared my jollof rice using smoked fish (quiet unusual as it has a touch and mix of cultural jollof rice but trust me it was sweet and worth it, the taste I can't forget to say is yummy.
Here's my well prepared jollof rice
MY INGREDIENTS
6 cups of rice
Smoked fish
2 spoons of groundnut oil
I sachet curry powder
Seasoning (Maggi 5 cubes)
Two spoons of salt
Fresh tomato
Black pepper
1 bulb of onions.
THE PROCESS
I parboiled my rice and kept in the sieve
Sliced my onion
Got my smoked fish ready in the plate
Sliced my fresh tomato and got it ready
Got my spices ready in the plate
And finally my crayfish ready
THE COOKING PROCEDURE PROPER
A. I allowed the pot to get hot for like 40 seconds and then added the groundnut oil and next I poured the chopped onions into the hot groundnut oil
B. And after 2minutes I added my sliced tomatoes and allowed it fry for like 5 minutes before I proceeded to the next step
C. 5 minutes later after a long stir I added my spices and crayfish and allowed it cook for a little while before proceeding to the next step
D. And after a minute I added 2 cups of water and allowed it cook for 10 minutes and during this period I checked my taste and also pay attention to the quantity of my ingredients if I achieved my needed result
E. And then I poured the parboiled rice to the pot and allowed it cook for sometime
F. 15 minutes into my cooking
G. Almost done and few minutes to get down my food I added my smoked fish
H. At this point, my jollof rice is done and served.
