The Eid Tradition That Is Still Preserved in Aceh

Gathering and forgiving each other, an Eid tradition that has never been forgotten since time immemorial.
There are several activities that have become an Eid tradition for the people of Indonesia. This Eid tradition has been going on for generations as a nation's cultural heritage that has not been eroded by modernization.

The following are some of the activities or traditions that exist in Aceh

** 1. Homecoming **
The large number of migrants, both from outside the city and outside the island to earn a living far from their hometown, makes the homecoming tradition never overlooked every Lebaran from year to year.
Moreover, Eid holidays are generally longer than holidays on other days, so people have plenty of time to return to their hometowns or visit relatives who are far away, especially parents.
Homecoming is the biggest tradition on the day of Eid for our people. The travelers can reach tens of millions per year.
But unfortunately for the past 2 years going home has been prohibited by the government because of the time of the Covid-19 pandemic

** 2, Gathering **
Generally, the people of Aceh stay in touch with teachers, friends, neighbors and relatives to apologize to each other.
This tradition even follows the times by practicing halal bi halal through online media and modern gadgets. Now many of us forgive each other through cellphones, social media, and the like.

** 3.Lontong / ketupat **
After Eid prayer, usually the breakfast menu in the form of rice cake / ketupat is presented attractively. This Lebaran Ketupat is usually eaten with chicken opor, beef rendang noodles, stews. It feels great to gather with family and eat Lebaran ketupat together.

** 4.THR **
This Hari Raya stage or allowance has become a tradition in Aceh to be distributed to young children.
It is also the most eagerly awaited. In addition, companies will also issue THR for their employees. this has also become a government regulation.

** 5. New clothes**
This tradition is actually a symbol that Eid is a fitri day and we are reborn as if we were just back. But if your budget is limited, don't force this tradition.

** 6. Pilgrimage to the grave **
Usually on the second day of Eid, residents flock to the graves of their parents to pray for their spirits by reciting Yasin samadiah or others.

** 7. Firecrackers **
Even though long ago there were calls for raids / prohibitions on playing firecrackers, firecrackers are still a tradition that appears here and there. Every Lebaran, there must be a lot of people selling fireworks

** 8. Gunfire **
In Aceh itself this tradition has been passed down from generation to generation, and especially for children, playing shooting using a toy softgun,
