Farmers are indeed the real hero of our society. I wonder what life would be without them. Below are captured some farm lands in my neighborhood which reveals farmers activities.

Farmers within my locality practice mixed farming. Mixed farming is a system of planting more than one variety of crop on a farm. The crop planted mostly are yam, cassava and maize. They also plant vegetables such as pumkin, waterleaf, scent leaf and bitter leaf in the same farmland. I have my own little farm where I planted maize and cassava. I go there regularly to attend to the plants and see how they are growing. Some of the cassava I planted last planting season are already dew for harvesting. So I went to the farm to harvest some of them which I used in making African tapioca snacks.

Cassava tuber harvest is quite easy. Simple hold the cassava stem firmly towards the root and pull. It's easier when the ground is moist.
