Traveling Moment in Five Photos
Hey People,
To be able to appraise the spate of gully erosion down here in the South of Nigeria. Remember I mentioned I am a soil scientists.
Along with some other soil scientists, we took a tour of some critical erosion sites.
A little information I can't hold back is that without the soil, human existence and sustenance will be highly threatened.

Anyway, back to our travel matter. We took off early in a convoy and of buses. This is us inside the bus about to move. You know the joy that comes with traveling.
It was company of experts, academics and other stakeholders in the field of soil science,
This photo above contains images of a Professor and a Doctor of Soil Science who accompanied us on the tour.

The photo above shows intervention to halt the expansion of a ravaging gully at Calabar-Itu Highway, Akwa Ibom State.
From there we proceeded to other active gully erosion sites within the state. It might interest you to know that there are more than two hundred active gullies in Akwa Ibom state alone.
At one of these site that intervention work has been completed, we took out time to revel in the beauty of nature.
After adequate reinforcement of the valley and installation of sturdy embankments, trees grasses were planted at the site
The background of the photo shows the area that was being ravaged by erosion before control measures were instituted. You can agree the landscape is splendid.
On the whole, the way a huge success though it created deep concerns in our hearts due to the very gory pictures of depleted and deteriorated landscapes we accessed.
The soil is the wealth of the nation.
