The Game: Towards Zero || Korean Drama Series
Buttered up with mystery and crime The Game: Towards Zero is a South Korean drama TV series which takes you through series of emotions and points out the question of what is right or wrong which springs up from the choices we make. Directed by Jang joon-ho and written by Lee ji hyo, it starred wonderful actors like OK Taec-yeon, Lee Yeon-hee, Lim Ju-hwan amongst others.
Synopsis
With the ability to see the moment a person dies just by looking into their eyes or viewing a photo Tae- Pyeong would race against time to save the one most precious to him.
The drama follows the lives of certain individuals who has their past intertwined with each other and a present that is unavoidable. There is Tae-Pyeong who can see the moment of death of a person. A gift or a curse...maybe? This ability has earned him wealth and recognition in the political world as people sought him to know what fate holds for them.
There is also Seo Joon-young, a smart detective who believes that the fate of a person can change depending on how desperate the person is....the will of the person. Goo Do-kyung who is also part of this twisted fate is someone who had a painful childhood...a past that he would give anything to avoid.
A past that holds his father being accused of serial murder of teen girls and...a past that broke his family. A past where at a very young age a little boy who could see death told him he was going to commit suicide. To avoid the path of self destruction he tried all he could to live a righteous live but like they say some things are bound to happen.
This is a nice kdrama that put your emotions at a high level. A drama that portrays running away from a certain prediction only to come back to that same spot you tried to escape from. Where choices made are so important in avoiding death but in some cases what will be will be.
I have seen a couple of drama but this is one of the first that made me sympathize with the bad guy in the movie. I mean I could literary relate with his feelings and actions but however it doesn't make his actions right as what is wrong is wrong.
I understood how he must have felt as a child due to the injustices done to his family. Even in the face of all that happened he still tried to become a good person as an adult while the voice of that little boy "You will kill yourself" echoed in his head every step of the way. But at some point things just started to go wrong.
The drama generally tries to portrays the choices we make as human...how those choices we make affect our lives no matter how little they may seem. Also, despite the fact that there may justification behind a wrong move it doesn't take away or erase the wrong move made which of course has its consequence. There was also a point of either you you succumb to what fate holds for you of if one can actually change their fate.
It is an enjoyable drama that keeps you wanting to know more about the characters especially Goo Do-kyung, will he end up killing himself like the little boy foresaw or would he be able to change it? I personally found his character the most interesting to watch. I also like how connected the characters are from the past to the present...and how they developed through the series.
Here you have a TV series filled with suspense, a nice mystery with a touch of romance. Nice performance from the cast as they did great in portraying their respective characters. OK Taec-yeon did good as this was his first drama after his return from his mandatory military service. Lim Ju-hwan is a good actor, amazing with the villain roles as always.
This I say was a good watch for me...it has it's flaws, it was dragged a bit at a point but not so bad. Also, romance for me is not the main point of the drama...I guess they needed the spice. Overall it is a good watch for kdrama lovers....mystery, crime and romance.
