Through your entry, move into that emotional space and show us: Is love essential to keeping a relationship healthy, or can loyalty and understanding hold a relationship for a lifetime?
As a young guy who has tasted how genuine love is, I will first say to anyone who is out there for love that love is sweet as it is the heartbeat of a relationship, which, with time, it is loyalty and understanding that sustain love. Love can cause strong feelings, but on the other hand, love is quite consistent in showing up; when there is no understanding with love, even at the point of misunderstanding, true values can be shared and built, but without understanding, trust, and sincerity even deepest love can feel lost in a relationship.
One thing that I have come to understand in relationships nowadays, is that both partners who are still young can't love each other the same, I would conclude by saying that to the young ones, love is not essential for keeping relationship healthy, but loyalty and understanding is what holds a relationship for the younger generation stronger. In the case of our own parents, it is love that is essential for a healthy relationship. However, for a healthy relationship that would last for a lifetime, love, loyalty, and understanding are needed.
What are your thoughts about being seen as the "perfect couple" for outsiders but truly having no feelings for each other and having a huge emotional distance?

Being seen as the "perfect couple" by outsiders while feeling nothing inside is quite a tragedy for me. For me, it is like staying (living) in a house with so much beauty and beautiful walls without warmth. The performance in the house makes me get tired of staying in the house, and the emotional distance grows into silence in such a way that no amount of smiles can cover how happy I am.
Emotional distance is the easiest way to destroy a relationship; as someone like me, I cannot be in the same house with someone with whom we are not on good terms because I can't pretend that all is going well whereas nothing is working.
Is it wiser to hold on to peace or to chase what sets the heart on fire?
It is wiser to hold on to peace because peace can feel safe, and make everything work perfectly. However, if it is an empty peace where one party would have to silence his or herself to avoid conflict, it becomes a slow erosion of who the person is. Chasing what sets my heart on fire may be very risky for me, but it's honest. The challenge in a relationship is for both partners to find a life where they can both exist: that is where passion doesn't burn anyone out and peace doesn't put anyone to sleep.
