Research have shown that the yield a crop gives depends so much on the soil type used and favourable condition around it.
An agriculturist should know how to grow her fruit to get bountiful fruit for commercial and subsistence use.
Here are the tip that help you choose and make a good yield from growing fruit tress.

BANANA(Musa)
The soil should have good drainage, adequate fertility and moisture. Deep, rich loamy and salty clay loam soil with pH between 6-7.5 is most preferred for banana cultivation.

ORANGE(Citrus × sinensis)
Orange trees can grow in different types of soil. For optimal growth and health, soil with good drainage and a soil pH between 5.0 to 6.5 is advisable. Also, a soil rich in loam, which is a combination of sand, silt, and clay.

APPLE(Malus)
Apple trees tolerates a wide range of different soil textures, depth, acidity, and structure, as long as they are well draining and fertile. The best soil for apple trees are well draining medium-clay to sandy loam, fertile soils with slightly acidic to neutral pH between 5.8 and 6.5.

WATERMELON(Citrullus lanatus)
Watermelons do best in loamy, somewhat-sandy, well-drained soil. Though the can survive in soil that contains too much clay and doesn't drain well. Watermelons prefer a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.5 (“slightly acidic to neutral”).

CUCUMBER(Cucumis sativus)
Cucumbers can be grown successfully in many types of soils. The preferred soil that is loose, well drained, and well supplied with organic matter and plant nutrients. In soils void of organic matter, work in 4-6" of finished compost or other humus to a depth of 10". The soil pH 6.0 and 6.5 is prefer.

GUAVA(Psidium guajava)
Guava does well in a variety of soils but prefer well-draining soil with a pH of between 5 and 7. Plant the tree with a combination of potting soil and organic compost.

PINEAPPLE(Ananas comosus)
The best soils for pineapple production are non-compacted, well-aerated and free-draining loams, sandy loams and clay loams with no heavy clay or rock within one metre of the surface. The best pH for growing pineapple is 4.5-5.6.

MANGO(Mangifera indica)
Clay, sand and loam are all good soils for growing mangos, as long as the trees are planted deeply and the roots aren't over-watered. A range of pH between 5.5 and 7.5 will successfully produce mangos; if your soil is outside those parameters, add hydrated lime to increase the pH or add sulpur to reduce it.

AVACADO PEARS(Persea americana)
One of the most important components of the best soil for avocado trees is that it must be well-draining. Soils mostly composed of sand, loam, limestone, and granite bits are usually the best soil for avocado trees.

BERRIES
Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries all prefer well-drained, sandy loam that is rich in organic matter. Create a mixture to fill your beds by combining your own native soil with plenty of compost, leaf mold and peat moss.
Michigan State University Extension recommends the soil pH between 4.5 and 5.5 for berries.

GRAPES(Vitis)
Loam Soil. Most experts suggest loamy soil as the best type of soil for grape growing. A crumbly mix of sand, silt, and clay when blended with other soils in the right amounts offers the ideal soil type for grape growing.A soil pH in the range 5.5 to 6.5 is considered optimum for grapes

PAWPAW(Carica papaya)
Pawpaw trees prefer rich, well-draining, moderately acidic soil with a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. To improve your soil quality, you can add a layer of organic matter before planting.

PEACH(Prunus persica)
Peach trees cannot survive in waterlogged soil, so up to two feet (0.5 m.) of sandy, loamy, fertile topsoil works best, even if the subsoil contains a bit more clay. The best soil for peach trees is ideally in the 6.5 to 7.0 pH range.

LYCHEE(Litchi chinensis)
A beautiful specimen tree with its shiny leaves and attractive fruit, lychee thrives in deep, fertile, well-draining soil. They prefer an acidic soil of pH 5.0-5.5. When growing lychee trees, be sure to plant them in a protected area. Their dense canopy can be caught up by the wind, causing the trees to topple over.

SOURSOP(Annona muricata)
The soursop tree can reach height of 30 feet (9 m.) and is soil tolerant, although it flourishes in well drained, sandy soil with a pH of 5-6.5.
