Being the community that I have a good interest at heart for, I see it as a need to always share my little knowledge on what I am good at which is Cyber security. It is also an act of kindness to share this sensitive information. And so, this evening I want to bring another update on Cyber security, hopefully, I would be doing this once a week in this community, at least this would help educate every User around the globe. Yes, that’s clear with reasons.

So, please take your time to read this publication, because it will help you or your neighbor when it comes to the cyber world.

Lately, I noticed that most young folks and even adults are fond of downloading numerous android applications from some of their trusted online stores. Unfortunately, most of those applications are not trusted or not from a trusted source, most of them are just phishing applications of that hacker's design in other to collect people’s information.
Just yesterday, a girl approached me, she got my contact through one of her friends whom I helped recovered one of her social media accounts. The problem was that her Facebook account was hacked and her bank application password was changed.

How did this all happen? I asked her. She said that she downloaded one of the fancy keyboards from the google play store and install it, after some minutes of installing and using it, she was logged out from her bank app and Facebook account Simultaneously.

She tried to log in again, but it wasn’t successful, This happens for days until she got a call from a friend who informed her that her account was hacked because messages were coming from her whereas it was not really from her.

She tried logging in to her bank app password but it wasn’t successful either because the former password was changed.
The problem was that the supposed applications she downloaded were not actually what She thought it was, rather it was a phishing application that was created to collect people’s information. Decorating your phone with FREE GAME APPS or some fancy photo app, fancy keyboards app is very dangerous.

Sadly, last year about 151 apps used for the fraudulent acts were discovered on Google Play Store alone.

The apps were hidden as games, fancy or custom keyboards, Video/ photo editors, etc. Though it wasn't a good thing to them, Google confirmed that millions of users were affected by most of these apps developed by scammers, and they were actually scammed. I wouldn’t want you to be the next. Even though I helped her recover those accounts. It is possible for hackers to empty your hard-earned money from your bank account If you Ignore this technique. your Steemit wallet could be in danger as well.

Another means hackers use is to present an irresistible offer on a seemingly innocent website and then ask users to click on a link on the site in order to claim the offer.
But in most cases, attached to the link is a bank confirmation link on a web application layer that you might not even notice.

The web application layer is an invisible iframe embedded on top of the website which sometimes could even be a genuine site.

Once a user clicks on the first link which is visible, then he or she has automatically triggered the second invisible confirmation link unknowingly.
unfortunately, if someone is logged into his or her bank account at that particular time, sadly, his or her money will instantly be transferred to the account of the hackers who developed that. Do not joke with this information, please treat it as urgent.

And the funny thing is that while the transfer is secretly taking place behind this scene, the user will be redirected to another webpage where he or she will be seeing more information about the offer.
And after the transfer is over, you know what happens next, the sad story of crying for help. Don't let this be you. Be cautious.

Avoid Connecting to Wifi you don't know or don't trust, It could be a snare from a hacker just to get in touch With you.

CONCLUSION

Please dear friends, may we always think before we CLICK on any irresistible offer online, whether it comes from a friend or not - because when it comes to LINKS, the truth is that, the more you look, the less you see!
