Good day Steemians, welcome to my blog, today I will be discussing the contest topic organized by this community which is "The Role of Various Genders". We all know both genders has some various role to play which was constructed by the society and today I will be explaining the gender role in our lives, country and how it is on Steemit platform too.

Gender/Sex denotes the term "masculine which is male" and "femininity which implies female" and gender can simply be defined as the characteristics of male and female, concerning their social, cultural, and biological difference. There are some features that the male gender possess which differentiate them from the female gender while there are features of the female gender that is not present in male.

Furthermore, there are roles constructed for each gender which also makes a gender different from the other which includes behavior, attributes, and so on.

Yes, gender plays an important role in our everyday life, there is a role that is being constructed by the society which they expected each gender to operate with, it includes how to dress, speak, and act and conduct themselves.

The male gender is to be trained and seen with attributes of power, competitiveness, and strength while women are trained to be polite, nurturing, submissive, and accommodating. The male gender is seen to be strong while the female is seen to be emotional and weak.

Due to civilization, there seem to be some issues about this role in which some agree with the role laid down by the society while some disagree and felt the role should be reformed. This leads to having two gender role Ideology which is:

Traditional perception says each gender is to be treated differently with different responsibilities, the male gender is to be strong, hardworking, and make a livelihood for themselves and their family while the female is to be responsible for taking care of the home which includes cooking, housekeeping, taking care of children and extended family. They see the female gender as a weaker vessel and which place should be in the kitchen and can not be working.

Egalitarian perception says both genders should have equal rights and there should be no difference or discrimination between their a gender. They believe both genders should be given access to the same opportunity which includes education, working, and taking care of their home. Thanks to this perception because it enables the female gender to have access to education and can also work.

In my country Nigeria, the Male gender is seen as the head of the family, the one who takes care of the family responsibilities by providing for the needs which include feeding, clothing, and children's school fee, and shelter. They are the ones allowed to make decisions for the family and whatever he say stands and cannot be queried or questioned. The male gender is trained to be bold and strong.

Female gender role is to take care of the house which includes cooking, washing, cleaning the house, taking care, and training the children. They are to respect and be submissive to their husband, also they have no right to question their husband's decision whether right or wrong.

In the olden days, female gender in my country has no access to education and was not allowed to talk in public as the society believe their place is in the kitchen but because of civilization, the female gender now has access to education, they can talk in public, go into politics, work, be in high position, take care of their home, can advise and support their husband financially.

Furthermore, in my country male gender is to propose and pay the dowry of the female gender, as it is not appropriate for the female gender to pay the male gender dowry because male is considered the head and he's should be ready to prove that.

Though some country's gender roles are like mine there are countries in which the society sees a female marriage proposal to a man as a normal thing unlike ours, some countries frown against female education, and also female gender pay dowry of male in some countries.

No, the Steemit platform is a place for all, there is no gender role or gender discrimination on the Steemit platform, and both male and female genders are equal and treated the same. Both male and female gender can be leaders or country representatives and can create a community and Steemit rewards are not determined by gender, as long as you can write and make a quality post, you are good on the Steemit platform.

Gender does play a vital role in our life and society, the way we talk, dress, and act have to be in correlation with our sex, each gender has some responsibilities assigned to them by the society, and all child learn all these roles from their parents right from childhood till they grow up. Civilization has made gender role reformed and this has helped every household and the society at large to be peaceful and prosperous. I will be stopping here for now. Thank you for reading.
