As you’re reading this, chances are you have the resources to help someone else out in some way. Whether it’s donating your time or money, there are many ways to make the world a better place and brighten someone’s day in the process. The following are five different forms of charity that can go a long way toward helping someone live a better life. No matter which one you choose, you will be giving back to the community and making yourself feel good in the process!

1) Share

Our lives are defined by how we treat others, so today help someone else out. Share your extra food with a neighbor, take an extra hour to coach your son’s soccer team, or offer to cover someone’s shift at work. Each of these actions makes you feel fulfilled and—if it’s sincere—should bring joy into someone else’s life as well. And all of that goodness can help you live longer and healthier, too! Even if you only make one gesture today, consider it enough—because sharing is just about all there is between life and death . . . again.

2) Give Money

The fastest way to help someone in need is simply by giving them money. I know, it doesn’t feel as good as donating items or volunteering, but what can you buy with $20 that will truly impact someone’s life? In many cases, very little. If you are looking for the quickest way to help your fellow human be fulfilled, give them money and let them decide how best to use it. That said, there are some caveats. Don’t give money to addicts—their addiction makes it impossible for them to have fulfilled lives—and don’t give money to lazy people who will spend it on booze or drugs instead of using it wisely. This option is better suited for those who want to make sure their hard-earned cash goes directly toward fulfilling needs (e.g., food). It's also useful if you don't have time available—you just hand over cash and move on with your day!

3) Volunteer

As little as an hour of volunteer work can make a big difference. It might be cleaning up at a local park, handing out food to people in need, or working with refugees. Not only do you feel good helping others, but it gives you perspective and shows you what life is like outside your bubble. Volunteering also gives you access to information about job openings and companies that are hiring or looking for interns or volunteers. You’ll also meet new people in your community and grow as an individual through meeting other people with different backgrounds and personalities than yours.

4) Donate Items

Donating items is one of most effective ways to give back, but many people forget about it. Pick up an extra blanket or gently used jacket at Goodwill or another thrift store and donate it when you’re done with it. Or, if you have a large item that someone might find use in—or if your closets are overflowing—consider donating some furniture or home appliances instead of throwing them away. You can also create charitable yard sales for local organizations like schools and churches, helping them earn money for programs that help those in need.

5) Go To Events

When you're on a tight budget, it can be tempting to spend your free time lying around watching TV or vegging out on social media. However, going out and getting involved in community events is much cheaper than buying new clothes or going on expensive vacations. If you can’t afford to buy food for someone or donate money, offer your skills as an expert in some field of work. For example, if you’re a freelance web designer, offer your services pro bono at local event planning meetings. You'll likely meet other freelancers who need help with their websites, which can lead to more referrals for both of you.

Conclusions

As you have just read, giving money to charity can be an extremely rewarding and positive experience for everyone involved. Not only does it help provide others with basic necessities and improve their quality of life, but it is also a very healthy way for someone to develop their own sense of self-confidence and independence. We encourage you to participate in charitable events whenever possible, even if they are just simple events hosted by your family or local community center! The more opportunities that we take advantage of, the better our communities will become. It’s as simple as that. So why not help make someone’s life easier? Think about all those people who give so much every day and look at what they do as an example! You can too!

Thanks for you time
