The Diary Game III : 04/01/2023 - Traditional Dance to Round up the New Year Celebration

Welcome to my diary today. Still in the spirit of the New Year celebrations. Today I will be discussing with us as well as sharing with us some pictures of the final New year celebration here in the local community. I do hope you have fun and find my article and pictures very interesting. Let's get started without any further ado.

I have previously shared with us all the activities currently ongoing here in my local community which were put in place to celebrate the new year effectively. In this community, they have a culture of playing football and dancing among other things to foster unity among them every new year.

This new year was not an exception as they fully performed all the functions to keep the new year celebration lively and also foster peace within the inhabitant of the community. Two days ago, I have written about the football match between both married and unmarried women and that of married and unmarried men respectively.

You can check my blog for details of the football matches between these categories of people. With that being said, I will like to go straight into the last event done in the community every new year before people will start travelling back to their various workplaces.

The traditional dance is the last thing that the community does together every year and I was privileged to witness it for the very first time today. I was invited by a friend who is also a steemian. On this wonderful occasion, the entire people try to gather in the house of one of their own who has stood out among others.

According to sources, the house where this last phase of celebration is done is the house of a prominent politician who lovers and cherishes the culture so much and in a way to keep his people happy and for the culture to have more stylish, he pleaded that the event be held in his house yearly and he will take charge of the freshmen for the event.

It is a period when people dance until mama calls. When I got to the venue, they have already distributed food and drinks and the entire people are just dancing and very happy as they celebrate the last phase of the new year in their way. I was reliably told that they will continue dancing till 11:59 pm to mark the last celebration for the new year. This program is usually done by the Eggon people, one of the major tribes in the whole of Nasarawa state Nigeria.

I was privileged to take a lot of photos as they dance all through. They joy I see in the face of everyone present was something else. Indeed there is no greater way to foster a relationship and peacebuilding in a community other than the process used by the people of this amazing community. I want to believe you enjoy the activities carried out here to foster peace.
