Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W2: Natural Disaster In My Place

It is yet another week in the engagement challenge for season 5. Every week, a more interesting contest is shared with us here in this community and this week is not left out. This week the topic of discussion is Natural Disaster In My Place.

We all in one way or another have seen or experienced some sort of disaster, be it natural or man-made. Today we are only going to focus on natural disasters, maybe subsequently we can look into the other type of disasters called man-made disasters.

Before I go on to answer the question below, I want us to look briefly into what natural disaster is all about. The word natural disaster simply means an event caused by nature such as a flood, earthquake etc which destroys lives and properties and keeps the people in a state of dilemma.

The natural disaster I want to share with us today is a flood. Recently, we experienced heavy rainfall which has caused the loss of both lives and properties. The areas affected are not far from my home. Though the major places that got the heat were houses close to the stream.

The flood-covered houses and the roads we usually pass through when going to other places. A lot of person houses were covered and that also render them homeless moment. Many persons have vacated their house and their properties due to this issue of the flood.

As I have stated above, the cause has ruined the lives and properties of many people here in our community. Our roads are now covered with water and hence we can't use our motorbikes any longer at the moment we ought to use things like cannons and possibly boats to cross to the other ends.

People have left their homes in search of refugees because how the water has taken over their entire homes. It's not a pleasant situation at all and many people are already confused at the moment most especially those who don't have a place to go to.

The people are very well affected because it has helped to discomfort them and also has made them refugees in their land. All those affected have evacuated the area at the moment waiting for the water to drain. This water has caused a lot of damage to them.

Currently, their properties are all inside the water which has made it condemn automatically, their farmland is also covered with water which has also caused them a lot of money since the products won't do well because of the excessive rainfall. So the people are affected in every area at the moment.

The cause of this flood in my view is excessive rainfall. Since the rainfall started, there has never been a season where we experience this. This time the rainfall was much and that lead to this flood. I think the stream also contributed because most houses affected are not far from it.

There was no alert or notice from the government before this incident occurred. No one knew that such a thing could happen because people have been leaving in this area for centuries but they have never recorded any form of the flood before.

Hence the government least expected such a thing in that area. It took us all as a surprise. Seeing how water accumulate covering roads and houses made a lot of people unease. The government have currently provided a camp for all those who lost their home and they are looking for ways to drain the waters.

Flood is a terrible situation and you can not do anything other than try to save your life. Once such an incident occurs, try to live in the environment as early as possible to avoid had I know. The properties can always to acquired again once there is life.

So my advice is that if you find yourself in such a situation, kindly look for a way and save yourself and as many others as possible. After the situation has subsided, you can come for your properties and search for the ones that are still okay.

A natural disaster is something that we can hardly control because we most times don't see it coming. Anytime we experience a natural disaster, we often lose lives and properties.
