  • Introduction of Traditional Games:

Traditional games are village Bengal's lost games in today's technology age, which are now extinct. All the games that 90s children used to play were traditional games. A few years ago, my friends and I spent our golden childhood playing all these sports. Those times are now the golden past.

I have listed below some of the traditional lost games of village Bengal.

1. Kanamachi:
This Kanamachi game is very traditional in rural Bengal. Children would gather together and blindfold each other with a towel. Then the blindfolded man would try to touch everyone. It was a great game. But in the evolution of time, Kanamachi is not seen anywhere else.

2. Latim Game:
Latim was an awesome lost game. We played this Latim game with two or three friends in childhood. The winner is the one who spins the Latim the most. This game can't be seen either.

3. Jump rope:
In this game, two people hold the two ends of a big rope and rotate the rope, and one person jumps from the middle of the rope. Again, he used to jump by holding both ends of a rope with both hands. This jump rope is no more.

4. Kite flying:
Kites are still seen in some places. I used to fly kites by running along the edge of the village cropland with colorful kites. I want to go back to those days.

5. Marble Game:
This was a popular game in the 90s. We used to bring lots of marbles for 50 paise and play. How many beatings have I taken at the hands of adults with this marble game !

6. Bearing wheels:
We used to collect three-bearing wheels filled. Then I would insert the branches of the tree into the wheels. Then I would sit on it with a board, and the others would push from behind. This is how I used to make a bearing car.

7. Toys with leaves:
We used to make different things with different types of leaves. For example, I used coconut leaves to make glasses and watches. I used to make flutes from the young leaves of mango trees. I used to make Charki with palm leaves.

8. Tin Casket Phone:
As a kid, we made many things despite lacking scientific knowledge. For example, I used to drill holes in two tin poles and attach a wire to both poles. Then one would listen, and the other would speak.
9. Gulail:
My memorable golden childhood was spent in the middle of this Gulail. I could make a Gulalil with rubber and get fruits from mango trees and leaves from different fruit trees.

10. Slingshot:
This game is associated with childhood memories. This game was initially played with sticks. I would hit the head of a small stick hard and measure the distance to where it landed. Whoever could take it the farthest would win.

11. Inflated tires:
I used to go on the road with an inflated car tire. There I used to hit the tire with a stick. Then the tire would run, and I would run with it.

There are many unknown traditional games like this. As children, we used to play like buying and selling with small shops. There was a game called "Jhola Bhat." In this game, we all brought rice, curry, spices, and wood from everyone's house and cooked it outside the house. This game was a lot of fun. Then we all bathed in the pool. And I used to climb the tree branches in the pond and jump into the pond. Children used to make different things with clay. And I used to play with these all day. Besides, thousands of traditional village games like Gollachoot, Redicourt, Ha-du-du, cricket with coconut tree branches, football on the muddy ground, and sleeping on the pond's bank, which is now extinct.

  • Describe the relationship between games in helping children's development.

Children have a spiritual relationship with sports. Playing sports improves the mental and physical development of children. They learn to adapt to different environments. When many boys and girls play sports together, their brain performance increases. They can become very creative. Children are mentally healthy if they play sports. They can blend in with nature. Children's mental development increases through sports. Through sports, they learn to lead. They become kinship through sports. Although they hold grudges against each other, they forget everything through sports. Children become forgiving because of sports. Children can learn many new things through sports. Various sports teach them discipline. After all, sports change mindsets. They become very creative.

  • Comparing traditional and modern games, which one is better?

Between traditional and online games, I would put traditional games above. Technology has changed us a lot. Technology has changed our sport a lot. Now children do not go to the field to play sports. Today's children do not find friends to play sports. Because they are now limited to mobile. There is a stark difference between these online games and traditional games. Online games slow down children's mental development. All these online games harm children physically. Their eye lens is damaged extensively as they stare at the damaged mobile screen. And the harmful radiation from mobiles is slowly reducing children's brain function. There is no creativity in online games. Online games don't teach kinship, don't teach responsibility, don't teach leadership, don't teach forgiveness, don't teach discipline. Like free fire, PUBG, and COC, all these games teach children how to kill others. But traditional games don't teach children to kill. Children are physically stronger through traditional games but not through online games. Village children are physically powerful as they are used to traditional games. But city children are comparatively weaker because they are not used to traditional games. So I think traditional games are better for children than online games.

Conclusion:

I want our traditional games not to be lost. If these games are lost, the beauty of the village will be lost. Get your child used to traditional play. Help the child to develop proper mental development.

Before posting the contest, I invited @shikhurana, @simonnwigwe, @saulvargasman, and @taskinnahar12 to join this contest.
