I have recently done 50 Steem power-up in my account. Power-up gives us more resource credit. Resource credit is required to post a blog in Steemit. Not only post a blog, resource credit is also required to post a comment. Even editing a pre-submitted post or comment also consume resource credit. Resource credit is also needed to re-steem another post.
Increase of Steem power also helps in more reward both for author and curators in case of upvote.
