Funniest Experience of My Life

Greetings to all steemain from Sri Lanka. Our lives are a collection of daily events. They can be classified as sadness-happiness, gain, loss, humiliation and praise. So I'm going to tell you about one of the most beautiful and entertaining events I've experienced in my life. I hope you will like this too.

You have heard about a popular religious festival called Holi in India. So last March 8, they celebrated it in a colorful way. For the first time in my life I also got to join that occasion. It was a beautiful experience. Before describing the experience, let me tell you what Holi is.

Holi is one of the famous festival of India. It is the festival of colours. They celebrate Holi on two different days. On first day, they setup a fire which resemble the end of the devils and bad sprit. On next day , they use colours to spread affection and love among themselves. The festival Holi has a great history. In very old ages, there was a person named "Hiranyakashyap" who prayed for very long time and got a boon from the god 'Brahma' that he couldn't be die at the time of day or night and couldn't die in in home or outside. Anyone couldn't kill him. By getting this boon, he started to think himself as a god. He started to tell people that they should worship and not gods. But his son believed in lord Vishnu and worship him. So he tried to kill his own son. He called his sister named "Holika" to murder his son. He setup a huge fire and told his sister to hold his son into the fire. She did the same thing but herself and "Prahlad" the king's son got saved by lord Vishnu. At that evening lord Vishnu also killed "Hiranyakashyap". At the same day onwards, people started to celebrate Holi to celebrate victory even devils named "Holika" and "Hiranyakashyap". This is the history of Holi.

It is celebrated to mark the victory of lord Vishnu over evil. they celebrate the festival by smearing each other with colours. They wear white clothes and visit each other's houses. They prepare sweets and delicious food. They give gifts their loved ones. Holi is a symbol of unity.

Different nationalities live together in my workplace. There are Indians among them. They came on Holi and greeted us with love. They had brought beautiful colors. It was such a beautiful loving moment. We also congratulated them. So I have shared with you some photos taken at that time. I think you will be happy. Happy Holi to all the people of the world.
