Kota Lhokseumawe merupakan salah satu Kota yang berada di Provinsi Aceh, Indonesia. Kota yang memiliki 68 Desa di dalamnya yang diikat oleh 4 Kecamatan (Banda Sakti, Muara Satu, Muara Dua dan Blang Mangat). Kata Lhokseumawe berasa Lhok dan Seumawe (bahasa Aceh). Lhok artinya dalam sedangkan Seumawe berarti berputar-putar. Hal ini di ambil dari perkataan Teungku di Lhokseumawe (penemuan Kota Lhokseumawe) yang sering melihat air berputar-putar di teluk ini. Pada dasarnya Kota Lhokseumawe merupakan sebuah teluk.

Secara geografis, Kota Lhokseumawe memiliki 4 batas wilayah, yaitu :
• Utara : Selat Malaka
• Selatan : Kuta Makmur, Aceh Utara
• Barat : Dewantara, Aceh Utara
• Timur : Syamtalira Bayu, Aceh Utara

Mungkin ada yang bertanya, kenapa batas wilayah Kota Lhokseumawe hampir semuanya berbatasan dengan Aceh Utara...? Hal dikarenakan dulu Kota Lhokseumawe merupakan ibukota Aceh Utara. Namun pada tahun 2001 Kota Lhokseumawe ditetapkan statusnya sebagai Kota yang terpisah (makar) dari Aceh Utara. Salah satu penyebab terjadinya pembakaran status Kota Lhokseumawe yaitu, Kota Lhokseumawe merasa sudah bisa mandiri dengan adanya berbagai macam Industri gas bumi seperti PT. Arun NGL yang merupakan penyokong bahan bakar utama untuk industr-idustri lain seperti PT. Kertas Kraft Aceh(PT.KKA), PT. Pupuk Iskandar Muda, PT. Asean Aceh Fertilizer dan EXXON Mobil. Sehingga Kota Lhokseumawe dijuluki sebagai Kota Petro Dollar pada masa kejayaannya.

Populasi

Berdasarkan Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Kota Lhokseumawe, pada tahun 2018 penduduk kota Lhokseumawe mencapai 203.284 jiwa. Sedangkan pada tahun 2019 terjadi peningkatan menjadi 207.202 jiwa. Namun pada tahun 2020 yang lalu terjadi penurunan hingga menjadi 181.713 jiwa. Dari sekian ratus juta jiwa penduduk kota Lhokseumawe 99,94 % beragama Islam. Sehingga di Kota Lhokseumawe terdapat 100 Masjid dan 77 Meunasah/Mushalla.

Objek Wisata

Walaupun kota kecil, Lhokseumawe memiliki paling sedikit 10 objek wisata diantaranya yaitu Pantai Ujong Blang, Pantai Rancong, Pulau Seumadu, Pantai Meuraksa, Pantai KP3 (sekarang menjadi Pantai Jagu),waduk Jeuleuka Waduk Jeuleukat, Taman Riyadhah, Taman Ngieng Jioh dan Bukit Goa Jepang

Steemians dari Kota Lhokseumawe

Pada tahun 2017 di Kota Lhokseumawe pernah diadakan seminar mengenai Steemit yang bertempat di Ayam Penyet Pak Ulis saat masih jaya-jayanya di Kota Lhokseumawe. Banyak Steemians yang hidup dan berkembang setelahnya. Saya sendiri sempat mengikuti seminar tersebut dan bergabung dengan Steemit. Untuk saat ini, Steemians-Steemians tersebut apa masih aktif atau tidak, saya kurang tahu. Karena saya sendiri baru aktif kembali di akhir Februari yang lalu. Namun ada beberapa yang masih aktif saat ini seperti @khairunnisaq (istri saya), @dederanggayoni (guru saya), @ayijufridar (dosen), @waterjoe (senior) dan masih banyak lagi yang tidak dapat saya sebutkan satu-persatu.

Lhokseumawe City is one of the cities in Aceh Province, Indonesia. The city has 68 villages in it which are bound by 4 sub-districts (Banda Sakti, Muara Satu, Muara Dua and Blang Mangat). The word Lhokseumawe tastes like Lhok and Seumawe (Acehnese). Lhok means deep while Seumawe means spinning. This is taken from the words of Tengku in Lhokseumawe (the discovery of Lhokseumawe City) who often saw water swirling in this bay. Basically Lhokseumawe City is a bay.

Geographically, Lhokseumawe City has 4 regional boundaries, namely:
• North : Strait of Malacca
• South : Kuta Makmur, North Aceh
• West : Dewantara, North Aceh
• East : Syamtalira Bayu, North Aceh

Some may ask, why is the boundary of Lhokseumawe City almost all bordered by North Aceh...? This is because Lhokseumawe City was the capital of North Aceh. However, in 2001 the city of Lhokseumawe was established as a separate city (treason) from North Aceh. One of the causes of the burning of the status of Lhokseumawe City, namely, Lhokseumawe City feels that it can be independent with the existence of various kinds of natural gas industries such as PT. Arun NGL which is the main fuel proponent for other industries such as PT. Aceh Kraft Paper(PT.KKA), PT. Pupuk Iskandar Muda, PT. Asean Aceh Fertilizer and EXXON Mobil. So that the City of Lhokseumawe was dubbed the City of Petro Dollar in its heyday.

Population

Based on the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Lhokseumawe City, in 2018 the population of Lhokseumawe city reached 203,284 people. Meanwhile, in 2019 there was an increase to 207,202 people. However, in 2020 there was a decline to 181,713 people. Of the hundreds of millions of inhabitants of the city of Lhokseumawe 99.94% are Muslims. So that in the city of Lhokseumawe there are 100 mosques and 77 meunasah / prayer rooms.

Tourist Attraction

Although a small town, Lhokseumawe has at least 10 tourist attractions including Ujong Blang Beach, Rancong Beach, Seumadu Island, Meuraksa Beach, KP3 Beach (now Jagu Beach), Jeuleuka Reservoir, Jeuleukat Reservoir, Riyadhah Park, Ngieng Jioh Park and Goa Japan Hill.

Steemians from Lhokseumawe City
In 2017 in Lhokseumawe City, a seminar on Steemit was held at Ayam Penyet Pak Ulis when it was still at its peak in Lhokseumawe City. Many Steemians lived and thrived after him. I myself had attended the seminar and joined Steemit. For now, whether the Steemians are still active or not, I don't know. Because I myself have just been active again at the end of last February. However, there are some who are still active today such as @khairunnisaq (my wife), @dederanggayoni (my teacher), @ayijufridar (lecturer), @waterjoe (senior) and many more that I cannot mention one by one.
