I was giving an inspiration last night by 1:32am to write about this leave and get an extract of it . So this morning I went in search of it luckily I found it.
So let's begin discussion on this leaf called Chromolaena Odorata.
Chromolaena Odorata is a tropical and subtropical flowering shrub in the family os ASTERACEAE. It is said to come from the United States Of America which was seen as the traditional means of healing and treating wounds, sicknesses and diseases in the olden days.
In some part of Africa like the Nigeria it's is seen as our first aid . In Africa this leaf is been addressed by different names such as Siam weed, Rouge weed, Christmas Bush.
In Nigeria the some parts of the Igbo land call it " Abali do egwu", the Yorubas call it " Ewe Akintola". Well I don't know what you call it in your dialect.
Importance and uses of Chromolaena Odorata
In the Latin America this leaf is used as a spiritual incense ti cleanse a household. It is also used in traditional application of medicine where it is used specifically for difference issues.
As a Nigerian this Awolowo leaf ( Chromolaena Odorata) is very very essential and the importance and uses are much.
We use this leaf as our first aid treatment. It can be used to cure ulcer with the right application and direction on usage.
It's is used as a good medical treatment for measles when you boil it and use the water to bath a measles inflicted patient, it works faster than 7kids. It is also used to treat material and typhoid, you can decide to boil it with pawpaw leaf or leave it soaked in a bucket of water left in the sun till the sun goes down then bath it with a local herbal red soap. It works like magic.
You can as well squeeze the leaf and use the extract as Anema to flush access fats and oil from your body system. It helps to reduce pain from a fresh injury, it is used to stop bleeding from any cut and it helps to heal wounds faster.
Chromolaena Odorata is also used to cure and regulate diabetes, ulcer, blood pressure, heart condition etc when applied properly. It also helps to reduce cholesterol.
Toxicity and Acidity
Chromolaena Odorata is said to be toxic to grazing animals according to discovery it is also used as insecticide to control mosquitoes indoors and outdoors when properly mixed.
It also caused allergic reactions.
Because of the nitrogen content in a Chromolaena Odorata leaf it is said to be non acidic to human body system.
How to get an extract of Chromolaena Odorata
1: Pluck out the leafs and wash them with clean water
2: Squeeze them like you are squeezing bitter leaf.
3: Squeeze it till the juice starts coming out
4: Take out a good and clean net any size of your choice.
5: Take some portion of the squeezed Chromolaena Odorata and place in the clean net and squeeze out the juice into a clean and neet glass or jar.
Your Chromolaena Odorata extract is ready.
