This is my entry for in this week's contest. This time, the theme we have been given to talk about is genders. Do women and men get equal rights in the society..? There are various arguments for this. This week we will have the opportunity to read a number of interesting articles on various such arguments.

Does gender play a role in our everyday life?

Yes of course. Gender plays an important role in everyday life. We all come into this world as either male or female. Born like this, we go through different stages of life. If a woman is taken, she is born as a little girl. In time that little girl will become a sister. Later all women will have to go through these stages of wife, daughter - in - law, mother, mother - in - law and grandmother. This situation is also the same for men.

Also, a woman has no physical strength compared to a man. A woman cannot do everything that men do. But there is no difference in the level of intelligence possessed by both. Only the way it is applied is different. A man and a woman have the same basic rights. Basic rights are the same for all human beings, although these may differ in some cases. Society is very concerned about this gender. There are some jobs that only men can do. There are other jobs that both men and women can do. Talking about personal matters, there are separate wash rooms for women and separate wash rooms for men in public places. There are also separate schools for girls and boys.

If we take the family, the father is the head of the household and the father is responsible for all the family affairs. And it is mother who organizes all the affairs of a family well. The mother will check on the family frequently and inform the father about it. The mother also manages the household finances. So in this way men and women have separate actions to perform. This is what gender balance is all about.

How does the role or function in your country differ from gender to gender?

According to Sri Lankan society, a woman is someone who should be very modesty. A woman cannot live as she likes without anyone's influence. What I meant by this is that before marriage a woman is under her parents and after marriage all the responsibilities of a woman are transferred to her husband. Also, if a woman lives a playful life like men, it is seen as wrong by our society. In fact, Sri Lankans are people who care a lot about things like culture, manners and modesty since the past. So in our society, a woman's modesty is highly valued.

Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim ethnic groups live in our country and the status of men and women in each society differs according to these ethnicities. In many cases, there are opinions that women are a group that should be subordinate to men and that a woman should own the kitchen. As a Sinhalese, women and men have equal rights in our society. Not only a man but also a woman has full freedom and right to study. And a woman who is nurtured by her parents must obey her parents. After marriage, a woman should live with respect to her husband. These are not laws or not mandatory, but they should be. Then it is an ornament for a woman.

Men also respect women. Otherwise, although there are men in the society, most men respect their mother, sister, wife and daughter. And they protect.

Is it the same for other countries?

Actually this varies according to different countries and nationality. In some countries and nations women and men have equal rights and in some countries women have a lower status. There are also countries that give full freedom to a woman to do whatever she wants after reaching the prescribed age.

There is a big difference between western countries and Asian countries regarding gender issues. Some things related to gender are similar in our country and our neighboring countries.

I'm really happy. Because this gender is not considered in the steemit platform. A woman has the same rights as a man in this platform. There is no separate set of rules for women and separate set of rules for men. General rules for all users. It is not to gender specific.
