Steemit Engagement Challenge S3-W4: The Role of the Various Genders

This is my engagement challenge post. Here I will speak about the gender equality. I feel grateful for the community for giving this important topic to speak about.

Does gender play a role in our everyday life?

Gender is something that we get from our birth. We are framed in that particular gender from our birth to death. So it is clear that gender plays an important role in everyday life. Male and female by the names they are in two groups with two different packages of activities in life.

Being a male or a man is so responsible. He has to earn for the family and feed the family. In out side the house females are given favors and men should hold and work many hours. In a family the brother and father takes up many responsibilities and hard work is given to males in the family.

It is said that men has more strength than women so heavy work load is assigned to males. Now men and women are given equal work opportunities. But women do only documentry work and slight work in many work areas. Men are also occupied with documentry work but they also have more opportunities in heavy work.

When considering about the employment opportunities being a male is an advantage as there is a big variety of jobs that they can do. The work shifts are more flexible for men rather than women. So I think being a male is advantageous than being a female in employment sector.

How does the role or function in your country differ from gender to gender?

When considering about my country the equality of gender is different from region to region. In urban areas both men and women work mostly in documentry sector. So both of them have to do the same frequency of work. There is no difference in gender in urban areas. Both males and females have to face for work shifts. Same amount of opportunities will be given to both females and males.

When it comes to rural areas many of females are housewives. They have the responsibility of the family to look after their children and husband. Women stay at home. Some families they engage in home gardening and women do that whenever they are free. Men in rural ares engage in agriculture especially in jobs like, truck driving, mason, painters and other heavy agricultural work.

As a country there are instances where we face equality in gender and also there are situations which the priority is given to men.

As a society and as a common social ethic priority is given to female. Specially if a pregnant mother gets in to a bus we have separate seats for them. Also special protection is given to female children than male children. Safety and security of females are mostly considered than males in SriLanka.

Is it the same for other countries?

When talking about the whole world I think priority is given to ladies than men. But there are countries in Europe where both males and females work in same manner may be heavy work or light work if the person is capable of working they are given the chance.

I have visited to few other Asian and European countries there I have noticed some instances which the gender affects people. In some European countries there is no any priority for females. in Public transport I have seen there is no any seat allocation for pregnant ladies. They consider that pregnancy is not a disability. That is also good as everyone is treated equally but sometimes I feel sorry for it.

In Eastern Asian countries also women do heavy work load same as men. They do mechanics, agriculture and driving and other heavy work too. But I have seen for ladies who do heavy work are highly paid. Women are considered less strong than men by some people. The countries that follow this method give more work for men and less work for women.

When considering the punishments for men punishments are an offence is higher than a female. This has also made some people to use ladies in illegal activities too. This is the situation that I have experienced when I visit other countries but there can be mistakes in my statements.

What about Steemit?

Steemit is an open platform where gender is not specified. So men and women equally can engage in post making. I feel there is an equal proportion of male and female users in steemit. There are seperate communities for men and women where users can freely express their ideas.

I can see that even in engagement of contests both male and female users equally participate. Even for steemit promotion activities both males and females do their maximum. I think steemit is a fair place where evryone is equally treated despite the gender. We all have equal rights , opportunities in steemit.
