What is Copyright?

Of course we are no stranger to the words use copyright-free photos on steemit pages or any community. Apparently, it's not without reason, if we use other people's copyrighted photos, it means that we are like thieves of other people's work. Not only that, we will be subject to applicable legal sanctions and fines that we never thought possible. Copyright protection law in Indonesia has been regulated in legislation Law no. 28 of 2014.

In general, according to applicable law, if someone takes and publishes a photo of someone else's image, it will violate the law and violate copyright and the photo owner can sue the photo creator in court. And if someone takes it and modifies it and even adds emoticons in it, it will be penalized in the form of a monetary fine that must be paid to the copyright owner.

The resulting photo or image is one of the intellectual property owned by creative actors. They also want to protect their work and the copyright of their work. Therefore, we must understand and learn about the digital world if we adopt it as our work.

Although it has been regulated by law, the law has also regulated restrictions on the rights of creators, this is created so that legal protection can be accepted and the public can also take advantage of it on conditions. These restrictions are as follows;

• writing scientific papers
• study
• problem review
• critique writing
• preparation of reports

Are there any Copyright Types we should know about?

There are 3 types of copyright that we should know;

• Traditional copyright
  We may not use, reproduce, publish let alone change photos from copyright without the permission of the owner. This means that the copyright is fully owned by the copyright.

• Creative commons
  Photos or images with icons that usually have the initials CC are a license that we can use images and photos without the permission of the owner but with one condition;
  Include photo source
  Include owner's name
  don't change image (edit)
  no money from the picture

• Public Domain
  This is a license that allows someone to get a photo or image without the owner's permission, because the copyright has been fully granted to the public domain. That is, you can download, modify and even share the photo even for commercial reasons.

How to search for images or photos on google map by type and free of copyright?

Here is one way how we can get copyright-free images or photos on Google Map so that our writings, blogs become more alive without having to be subject to criminal penalties and fines.

Step 1

Visit the google site then look for the following link Advanced Image Search

Step 2

After clicking on the link, we will be shown a page like the following;

Type the word you want to get a picture of in the "all these words:" field. I tried to add the words Apple and milky juice as shown below.

Then you can search for the type of image or photo that matches what you want, click on the blue column usage rights, an option will appear;

• All
• Creative Commons Licenses
• Commercial and Other Licenses
  And I chose Commercial and Other Licenses as shown below;

You can also fill in other fields according to what you need, such as image size, image type, image dominant color, image dominant place, etc.

Step 5

After you fill all the fields, then you can proceed to click Advanced Search,
And will bring up what we are looking for as below;

Well, you can use these images to be used according to the type you choose, and the images I chose are the types of images that I can use for commercial.

Of course, I don't even fully use my own photos and images, I often use photos or other images for several reasons, such as writing that will be more interesting when the images displayed are appropriate and clear. Therefore, we must know every photo and image license that we use so as not to be subject to criminal action.
