Orphans and the poor when the Iftar Menu is provided
As many people know, the Acehnese, who are synonymous with Islam, carry out the mandatory fasting worship this year. And there have been many stories that have happened since the time of Aceh, still in the corridors of the kingdom in ancient times.

In each village there is one surau which functions as a multi-purpose building and will be converted during the month of fasting (Ramadan) into a place to multiply alms which are believed to be accepted by God.

One of the charities that has become a custom and culture of the Acehnese people during the fasting month is sharing food when breaking the fast. Various types of menus have been served by the community to travelers who pass through the village during iftar hours or other poor people in serving them to break their fast together there.

Coinciding with the 16th day and welcoming the 17th night of the fasting month (Ramadan) this year, the people of Teungoh Village located in the Syamtalira Aron sub-district, North Aceh Regency (what3words map), believe that their rewards will be doubled by having iftar together with orphans, the poor, and the poor. others in the village by providing a special menu of goat curry.

This dish had been scheduled a few days in advance and was done together for the sake of community cohesiveness in doing charity in this fasting month. It is clear that the enthusiasm of the people who are able to give anything to other underprivileged people in breaking their fast together this time.

The number of people present at the time of breaking the fast together this time was 43 people, namely 20 orphans and the poor and 23 other poor people and donors in this event. For the iftar menu this time, it costs around 500 USD in the form of purchasing 40 kg of mutton and other menus. All of these donations come from people who are considered capable in Teungoh village, Syamtalira Aron district, North Aceh district.

The feedback obtained and believed by the community is to get a reward from the almighty creator and of course to establish intimacy among the people of this village. This tradition has occurred since the first day of the fasting month (Ramadan) and will end exactly 30 days according to the fasting schedule. Of course, every day the menu served will be different considering the donors who give according to their respective capacities.

In Turkey, the country where I live, this type of iftar meal is served. Iftar tents are set up by the municipalities and every day during the month of Ramadan, a benefactor undertakes the meal that will be given. By doing this, they help people in need to break their fast.

Here, too, this tradition is very old, but due to the pandemic, such an organization was not held this year.

This beautiful charity for orphans in Aceh made me really happy. May Allah accept your good deeds.
