Steemit Engagement Challenge S9-W5: "Seeing is believing" versus "Knowing is believing" || @joymm
Greetings dear friends.. how are you doing today? I hope things are going as planned? It's my pleasure once again to welcome you all to my blog post in this week SEC-S9W5. My participation is below;😊
Write your understanding of the two short expressions above.
In my words, I would say that the meaning of "Seeing is believing" implies that you need to see something that happened or occur before you can believe or accept that it really happened. Is only when you see something that occurred, is when you can believe it. You can't just jump into conclusion that something happened without being too sure if it really did. Sometimes, we need to see something that occurred before believing it exist until we see it. It is always unsual or unexpected. We only see a fraction of what we believe. So, we can't be too sure of what we didn't see.
On the other hand, "Knowing is believing" is something different althogether. There is a big difference between knowing and seeing. Knowing means that you are sure about what happened and the truth. It leaves no room for doubt and leads to confidence. When an action takes place, there is absolute proof that one is right in doing so. So, knowing is believing means the actual truth and being certain of what has occurred.
Give an example of "Seeing is Believing" vs. "Knowing is Believing"
Firstly, Am going to tell you a story about "Seeing is Believing". It was on November last year my Uncle decided to embark on journey to his home town for a business trip and he asked me if i will follow and I agreed. It was an ill-fated journey and was also one of the uninteresting experience in my entire life. We woke up by 5:30 that day, took our bathe and dressed up for the journey to Imo state from Aba. My uncle boarded the bus and we entered and as soon as possible, the bus was filled and we zoomed off.
While we were in the bus, the bus conductor began to collect the transportation fares from every passenger. Next, what we observed was the speed of the bus was too much. An elderly man who sat next to us cautioned the driver but he dismissed the man's caution in vulgar languages. After crossing the tollgates, most passengers began to fall asleep including the elderly man who had been untiming the driver.
About thirty minutes later, we crossed the round about and started the second phase of our journey. The driver increased his speed more than ever. All the passengers including my uncle slept off, but I didn't sleep because I was scared by the speed level of the reckless driver. While at speed, the bus was crossing the lines and within a twinkle of an eye, the bus ran off the road and went into the bush.
The bus was damaged and the windscreen smashed. The driver and two men who were seated at the front gave up the ghost instantly. Then, the rest of us who were at the back got injured including myself. So, what am I trying to say, if I didn't witnessed this that happened, I wouldn't know how to explain it because I wasn't there when it occurred.
What is the moral message that can be taken from this expression
We can learn alot this expressions above. From the story being told above, you can see that if I didn't get to see it, I won't be too certain or too sure of what happened. So, another one is that we need to be sure of what we say inorder not to put ourselves into trouble. Thank you..!!!
Here comes to the end of my post...!! I hereby invite @bela90 @christnenye @wirngo to partake in this contest.
