The Diary Game Better Life, January 16, 2022: A Day Well Spent

Exactly one month after typhoon Odette, I finally had the chance to visit Olanggo Island. This place is known to a lot of tourists and locals alike because of its captivating beauty and beaches. If you are a biker, you can also enjoy its clean and peaceful roads. In other words, there's a lot of things to enjoy here.

All 13 of my churchmates went on a boat going to the island. What surprised us though was the big waves along with strong winds.

In 20 minutes, we arrived at the port with a happy heart knowing that we are all safe. From there, we rode a tricycle for another 15 minutes. While travelling, since it's my first time in the area after Odette, I managed to take pictures and observe as well how the storm wrecked the island. A lot of our friends' houses from here were totally damaged.

What broke my heart was when I personally witnessed the destruction typhoon Odette has caused to our sister church here. The picture above shows the debris, what's left with what we built last year. The roof, trusses, everything was gone. But focusing on what we lost was never an option. Instead, we continued encouraging each other.
These kids are just one of the many reasons why we never lose hope. These happy faces are our fuel. We brought some food for them. We are also planning to bring some used clothings for the kids next week.

All is well that ends well.
At 5:00 in the afternoon, we prepared to go home and face again the waves which are bigger than what we encountered earlier. But all fear is gone because we have served what we came here for.
