My Eid without water only because of the harm we did to nature.

Greetings, dear friends, how are you all? I hope you all are fine and enjoying your day. I wish for you all good health, wealth and a prosperous time ahead.

The temperature these days has gone up a little bit more than the normal and is taking a toll on all of us. We are through some of the hottest days of the year and it has been more than a month that the kashmir valley has not received any rainfall. Kashmir known for its moderate climatic conditions is no different than the other states of India these days. We are through a dry summer, and it’s not only us who are suffering, but also the flora which seems to have lost some of its moisture, and the leaves seem to have lost their stiffness and have started withering . It’s for the first time ever in my lifetime that we are experiencing such a dry time in this part of the year and it all accounts to the climate change for which the human race is exclusively responsible. We have become so irresponsible that such type of climate changes hardly matter for us, and we continue doing the irresponsible acts. Making no inroads towards the protection of environment and climate would lead us to severe climatic conditions in the future and it would prove to be very toxic for our future generations. People who are not sensitive regarding their own interaction with environment could not be expected to have any conscience regarding their future generations.

Eventually yesterday,it was after a gap of about 1 1/2 month that the clouds started thickening and we started expecting some relief from the scorching heat. People seemed to have lost all the hopes and and observed clouds in such a way as if they where new to it. I wondered how people expected anything better from the nature when they don’t do anything better for its preservation. I believe the nature would always remain kind and caring if we care about it, and it would be very harsh if the humans hurt it by any means. With advancement in technology and the increase in ease of life we have come along as far as we are now but at the cost of nature.
Yesterday’s rainfall was the most awaited rainfall in whole of the valley, and it was more like a blessing on the occasion of Eid and I feel like it was the supplication of whole valley that came true. The rain came with some relief from not only the dry spell but also the heat of sun which had gone up from quite a few days. Our Agriculture and Horticulture, being the backbone of our economy are mostly dependent upon the natural Irrigation through precipitation and the crops were on the verge of getting affected and thankfully rainfall came quite late, but still sooner enough to save our crop. The last couple of weeks have been a tough time for whole of the valley and especially our village because of the above mentioned reasons and people were very desperately waiting for some relief to come from the heavens. It is because of yesterday’s precipitation , that our water resources got rejuvenated and now we will get enough water through the rest of the summer.

Our Distribution pipeline were running dry from quite a few Weeks and it was the time People should have realised the importance of water in human life. On the occasion of Eid, I couldn’t wash my clothes or even take a bath because we had no water available at our disposal for such activities. It was a different Eid altogether for me because of having no water available, I couldn’t perform the activities that are obligatory as per religious tenants are concerned.

At last, I would like to request all the readers to help nature recover from the harms we have done to it already. Our small steps would lead to a significant change and would help us to safeguard not only ourselves but also our future generations. Our ancestors had preserved nature more like as if it was their utmost obligation and had hardly damaged it either, but we being the most educated people till now have proved to be the most dangerous and sinful as far as the nature and its preservation is concerned. At least we must plant a tree every year to play our part and also make our close ones to do so and lead by the example. At least we can play a significant role in making the planet carbon neutral.

Thank you for going through my post. Have a great time ahead.
