Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W5: A day without Internet
Greetings to everyone on the platform, I hope we are all doing well wherever we are. I must say I’m much delighted to participating in this week’s engagement challenge again in the community, this will be my second entry in a row on the engagement challenge, I couldn’t be much happy about it. Much appreciation to the organizers of the contest and to @steembetterlife and members of the community for making it an engaging platform.
The internet has really come to restructure our way of lives as people, it has made life more interesting, fun, easier and more interactive. I would say the internet has actually done more good than harm to us, well but not entirely, it does come with its demerits sometimes. The internet isn’t that available in my country as it is in others, this is one thing that challenges my country actually. Paying for the internet is mostly expensive and for that matter, a lot of people don’t normally bother to have it much, especially the elderly among us. In fact I myself have been in situations where I just put my phone down and rest because I’m out data to access the internet, we buy data bundles from telecommunication networks in other to access the internet, wifi aren’t that common here especially here in my town. So I have actually been in situations where I don’t have internet access, a lot of situations and times for that matter.
I have been in those situations so many times it feels kind of normal sometimes, it gets worse in some part of the country that do not even have electricity talk less of the internet. Yes! Places without electricity, you can only imagine life in such places. I have been in a place like that last year, and I’ll want to share that experience with you.
As part of our university’s program scheme, they send students to communities outside the town to obtain data and knowledge about their culture, problems and potentials, rural communities these are. We went in groups to our various communities assign to as, my group was unlucky to get a community called Nankuma that was lacking in so many utilities. Electricity, clean water, network reception and a whole lot actually, life there was challenging to us. We lived in the community without electricity, internet or reception to even make calls. I remember what we use to do sometimes is join the community members to their farms just to engage ourselves and also learn more about their farming methods, that was actually a good experience. And sometimes to we just stay indoors and sleep till we can’t no more, wake up, eat and then sleep again. Sometimes we just get up and go on walks just to keep active, or even just sit and talk with the community members, it was kind of an interesting experiences.
Solving the availability of the internet in my country will actually be a very great achievement to accomplish, it will first of all require providing electricity to most communities without electricity. And also extending the network signals of the telecommunication networks to those places.
The issue of expensive data packages for internet is also as a result of the taxations on the data that we buy from the telecommunication networks. Which would be a nationwide freedom to put it, I mean because no one likes paying taxes, the taxations on internet data we buy now wasn’t the same some years ago. People were able to buy internet data packages without complaining, but same can’t be said about it now.
The presence of the country’s own telecommunication network will also go a long way to improve the availability of the internet in the country. It will be of low cost than the ones we have already which are from other countries, and therefore people will be able to patronize it more and have more internet to go about their businesses and events. The internet is really important for this modern era that we are living in, and so it is deemed necessary for people to have access to the internet with no difficulty and constraints.
It has been a delightful time to share with you about the topic this challenge, thank you for coming through and I wish you all the best. I would like to invite @mukka @habdallah and @kataali to join the engagement challenge through the link;

Thank you for reading.
In my country, internet package rates were also expensive. However, along with the growth of telecommunication technology and the emergence of many internet service providers, internet packages are becoming cheaper. Good luck for the contest. 🥳🥳🥳
By the way, I have participated in the contest too
Wow! That's good news for your country, I hope my country gets that relief along the way too.
I'll be much happy to read your entry too, thank you for coming through.

Thank you.
I agree 💯 with you on this. These server companies charge us too much
Especially MTN, wouldn't you agree? Hahaha...
When we don't have an internet network, there are still many things we can do, whether it's doing pending work at home or playing with family. I also share about the internet network, if you have time please see it and I am very happy.
Thank you sharing, I'll be pleased to read yours to.
At least you have the hope of improving the internet; there are countries with tyranny, whose motto is total destruction. Good luck in the contest.
We wish you success in the contest. You can share with @amazing-ghana
