Hello to every on the Steemit platform and special greetings to members of STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE community and @amryksr for organizing this thoughtful contest. Indeed, I believe the contest will give us a better understanding of how to deal with issues or flaws facing our community hospitals and how best we can also help to improve it or also give us ideas or learn how hospitals in other communities or towns and cities function effectively so we can also adapt to it in our hospitals.

The health sector of a community or country is one of the important sectors that need maximum attention, the health of the people should be taken as top most priority and so the hospitals should also be seen as such. There are several hospitals or health facilities in my community divided to either public hospitals which are run and control by the government or either private sector health facilities which are independent of the government. I aspire to become a medical laboratory doctor one day, and I am now in my third year of my studies to achieving this dream. As part of the journey, I had an opportunity to work as an intern in one of the public hospitals of my community name Tamale Central Hospital (TCH). And I will be writing my about the public services provided in this hospital today during my experience and time spent there as a worker myself.

The hospital offers just adequate services to clients of its capability, the administration of the hospital runs and controls the hospital staff and also provide other units of the hospital the items, materials and tools needed for work through the government. It contains the Medical Superintendent who is in charge of the medical course of the hospital, and staffs such as the account manager who controls the money of the hospital and controls its usage back to the hospital.

The hospital is divided into units of depending different sorts of work or cases that they deal with, these are;
• Registration and reception.
• Consultation center
• OPD
• Accidents and emergency ward
• Maternity Ward
• Female Ward
• Pediatric Ward
• Male Ward
• Labor Ward
• Antenatal Care Unit
• The Laboratory
• The Dispensary Unit
• ARC
• Eye Care Unit and
• Psychiatric Unit.

The registration and reception is where patients or clients go to first registration and given ID folder numbers if they are new comers of the hospital, and they move straight to the ward of their in which their problem is associated with for consultation and quick services where applied. All the units work dependent on each other and especially the laboratory, I think the laboratory is the most important section in dealing with a patient’s condition. It is the first place of diagnosis of the client’s condition, and all results of a client’s are to be kept confidential as possible (one of the most important rules of a health worker). Clients cannot come to the lab without a request card from the consultation doctor, and they can also come to the lab equally with request forms from an outside hospital or health facility. All payments of any sort is done at accounts unit and they are given receipts of proof of their payment. The hospital though runs on the national health insurance scheme or system in which all or a percentage of a client’s expenditure are covered by the scheme depending on their condition.

These are the services that TTC Hospital offers and it undergoes improvement as time passes by in other to satisfy clients as best as possible because the satisfied health of the people is the ultimate goal of the hospital. Thank you very much for reading and I hope also read more interesting entries of your community hospitals. Thanks once again to the STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE community and to @amryksr for organizing the contest and opening it to all. I wish you a nice day and thank you.
