The Power Of Showing Gratitude: Fostering Appreciation and Happiness In Daily Life
Gratitude is essentially valuing every gesture towards us. It is one of the qualities; with it, humility is the most precious gem, cherished by humanity because the grateful person is one who thinks well, is attentive, and doesn't just focus on themselves. They see others with greatness and importance.
Because gratitude penetrates the soul of the giver. It's like a beautiful gift of a simple and rarely used word. Therefore, we need to be conscious and take the time, as receiving a gift is easy, but expressing thanks is the key, not from a selfish motivation but as a good habit that enriches life.
I express gratitude to God daily, to my wife for meals, to life for the daily sunrise, and when things happen that deserve gratitude. It's good to appreciate posts, support, and any virtue around us, like my dogs, which are a divine grace to have. I'm also thankful for having a mind that functions on its own with little assistance; that's a gift from God because I do things effortlessly, ideas flow, and I didn't do much to organize the millions of thoughts in my head. It just happens, and for simple things, one should be grateful. That's why it's essential to meditate so that fruits of peace, love, gratitude, and humility sprout from the heart.
A child, easy to guide, does what they imitate, but an adolescent is more resolved. For me, the best approach is to encourage them to be avid readers, exploring books by diverse authors because written education is like a river that washes away or diminishes negative attitudes. This helps them to think better. If they have a bad character or engage in negative actions, it's because they developed them over time; it didn't happen overnight. However, to teach, one must be a model. For example, my son told me yesterday that he read three books because he is a salesman and is reading targeted materials. He said he reads a lot because he saw me reading a lot. It's not possible to teach something if one is not that something. Recommending a book is uncommon but can open a mind with many limitations in this age of social media, which makes you cold and distant. Reading is the only possible tool to counteract the tremendous destructive effects of social media.
