Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W5: A Day Without Internet

It's a pleasure entering another contest for the week in Season 5. I found the topic a very interesting one as it helps to dig into our experience with internet downtime, I've got a few things to share on this and I hope to have you on this till the end.
Do I Sleep When the Internet is Down? |

The Internet has been a gateway utilized by many people across the world to connect with friends and families, business associates, teach or study and run other stuff to generate extra income. Over the years, I have solely depended on the Internet which means almost 90% of my engagement in a day is done via the internet, I can barely stay away unless I'm sleeping.
Towards the completion of my National Youth Service Corps one-year service to the fatherland, I have been able to realize how the Internet can be utilized to generate funds as such I felt I'm choosing a path of freelancing. Even though I had to work at a firm for some months yet I returned to what I envisioned earlier.
That said, my interaction with the Internet has been an all-day event, if I'm not writing/commenting/curating on Steemit then I would be busy exploring the crypto chart to create trade setups to make something out of the market. And if I wasn't busy with all of those listed earlier, then I would be studying which is also based on the Internet. In essence, the internet has become a great integral part of my day, even for gaming.

Taking a step back to the question, I don't sleep when the Internet isn't available, how can I sleep? In fact, I'm always restless during this period thinking some of my hours of the day are wasting away while my to-do list is being affected based on the scheduled time for each of my daily activities.
What I do When the Internet is Unavailable |

The period has always been a frustrating one for me and I will keep checking at intervals to see if it's stable again, each disappointment from those makes it even more frustrating.
The truth is that I could hardly concentrate on other things during that period because I lined up my activities for the day based on the utilization of the internet. Nevertheless, there are a few things I do;
- Playing an offline Dream League video game on my mobile phone. The online version of football gaming has been my preferable because it's highly competitive but internet unavailability retired me to settle for the offline. Below is how this works when there is internet failure.

These are the things I do during such periods but with less concentration, because I would be eager to have the internet restored as quickly as possible.
How often I Experience Internet Downtime |

Total unavailability of the internet is something that doesn't happen almost all the time in my town even though when there is no power supply, most of the network providers have standby generators as backups during the period. But there are times when it's inevitable, on average let me say a few months like 3 - 4 (intervals between the events of a total unavailable of the internet which could last a whole day).
Now let's talk about partial breaks of connection that last a few minutes to hours on a day, this occurs where I reside almost multiple times a week (Maybe 6 hours in total). When a situation like this occurs, it becomes very hard to perform one's daily activities via the Internet and one will have to spend the time on other things till it's stabilized again.
How to Solve the Issues |

Internet connection issues have remained for a long time and tend to continue but they can be managed by individuals. There are scheduled maintenances by most of the network providers in Nigeria when users would have been notified before time about the unavailability of Internet service at a period and this gets them prepared ahead of time.
One of the best ways to handle the issue and remain not necessarily affected by the event is to consider utilizing more than one network provider. All the available networks in Nigeria hardly experience downtime at the same time, it only occurs seldomly.
It is advised that users should consider having backup network providers' routers in case a favorite network is offline, the other ones would ensure the smooth running of one's activities on the internet. In that way, the effect of a network's unavailability would be minimized.
In addition, some of the network providers can employ blockchain technology whereby a node downtime doesn't affect the operation of the entire network as such minimizing the frequent unavailability experienced now and then, hence move towards decentralized internet. The blockchain oracle would play a big role in this, ensuring effective data sharing between the real world and the blockchain.

In conclusion, Internet downtime can be an extremely frustrating period and it greatly affects one's productivity, especially for those who have their businesses running mainly (or partially) on the internet.
One of the ways to cut down the effect is adopting more network provider internet products to serve as a backup if the main provider goes offline. It's a pleasure participating in this and I hereby invite, @kouba01, @ruthjoe, and @carlaisl to take part in the contest.
Saludos cordiales amigo la llegada del Internet fue el mejor avance de la tecnología, ya que a través de el muchas personas generan ganancias utilizando, sin contar que podemos comunicarnos con personas de otros países de manera instantánea hasta realizar videos llamadas, no obstante cuando nos volvemos dependiente de este servicio ocupamos mucha parte de nuestro tiempo en el, dejando a un lado el compartir con nuestros amigos y familiares
Por otro lado aquí en mi país Venezuela también sufrimos al igual que ustedes caídas del servicio de internet muy constante pero debido fallas en el servicio eléctrico esto es muy frustrante ya que no puedes ni realizar compras cuando no hay servicio de internet ya que las plataformas bancarias tampoco funciona lo que ocasiona pérdidas a las personas que tienen negocios, más sin embargo cuando no tenemos internet debemos aprovechar de realizar tareas que hallamos pospuesto por estar mucho tiempo en el internet
Just after I finished publishing this content. We experienced a nationwide internet issue with one of the popular network providers in the country and that affected the plan for the day. I was amazed this came on a day I have written about internet failure. Thanks for your time on this, @rosslena.
Hola @fredquantum el Internet es muy importante en nuestra vida porque nos hemos acostumbrado a este servicio que de alguna o otra manera nos facilita un poco la vista en cuanto a las cosas que tenemos que hacer, como transferencia o trabajo. Saba en mi país Venezuela estuvimos tres días sin servicio de electricidad y sin Internet esto fue imprevisto y Venezuela se paralizó esto fue un Cao terrible para todos los venezolanos.
I can imagine how disconnected people would feel during those days of no internet. The Internet has been a notable part of our everyday life and moments it's down, it causes some kind of distress. Thanks for your time on this, @beautiful12.
Hello my dear friend, this is a topic you brought up in a funny way, living offline in a society where everyone is online 24/7 can be difficult, but possible and moreover, it can be a very valuable experience, as long as you don't view offline as self-punishment.
I noticed that you are very addicted to the internet and I would like to tell you that you have the constant need for entertainment or the desire to always be aware of everything that is happening in the world, disconnection has the potential to enrich your life in subtle ways, that you will notice that you are spending more time with yourself.

The situation is revers in India , here we have majority of the shutdown due to government guidelines. So even by keeping multiple networks we are screwed sometimes .in 2019-2020 we were deprived of any internet for about a year.
That's the best solution but the service provider has to be anonymous otherwise government intererference will still be there.

Staying without internet for that long as highlighted above would be extremely difficult, I can't imagine what the citizens went through at that time.
That said, decentralization would go a long way to ensuring the smooth running of Internet affairs, eliminating the manipulation from the centralized body (government). Thanks for visiting, @drqamu.

Spending time without internet is vary tough
Staying a day without the internet is really like living in hell😀😀.
