Traditional houses of a country carry the ancient culture of that country. We have many ancient traditional houses in Bangladesh. Among them, there are still some traditional houses in my area. By seeing the traditional houses of my village, we are able to understand our culture very easily. Two types of traditional houses exist in my village. One is the traditional houses of the lower to middle class people and the second is the houses of the landlord class people.The local people of our village have preserved these two types of houses as local traditional houses.

This is the old traditional zamindar house of my village. This zamindar house was built about 350 years ago. A landlord named Nurul Amin built this house. This house is made of bricks and different types of stones. The house was a single storey building. Living in this house, Nurul Amin looked after all his zamindari and formulated his zamindari laws.Nurul Amin owned about one hundred hectares of land. There were many servants in his royal house. Nurul Amin used to carry out all his activities through his employees. People from far and wide come to our village to see this traditional zamindar house.

At present no one from Nurul Amin Zamindar clan lives in our village. I heard from the elderly people of the village that they left our village about 40 years ago and live in Dhaka city. But the current heirs of these zamindars sometimes come to our village to look after their wealth and some special people are appointed to look after their wealth.This house, abandoned by a rich man of ancient times, is known to all as a heritage house of our village. Many researchers from our city area come to examine its house. No researcher has so far been able to pinpoint exactly how many years ago this house was built. It is surprising that no inscriptions have been found on this house. Common people of our village do not enter inside this house. Because many people have seen many types of poisonous snakes in this old house.We are really happy to have such a traditional house in our village.

One of the main ancient traditional houses of our village is mud house. In the past, the lower to middle families of our village used to live in mud houses. But with the change of time, the mud house has almost disappeared from our area. Earlier mud houses were most prevalent. This mud house is currently lying abandoned in our village.

At present, such a mud house may not be seen anywhere. But in the past, our ancestors lived comfortably in mud houses. The current owner of this abandoned mud house now lives in the city. This traditional mud house is an excellent example of the culture of the past.

Local traditional houses should be properly preserved by all of us. Because all these traditional houses are carrying the history, culture and tradition of our ancestors. It is our duty to preserve all these traditional houses to present our culture to everyone. We all need to be aware and take appropriate steps to preserve the traditional houses in our place.

We need to take proper measures in advance so that the traditional houses are not damaged by storms. At the same time, arrangements should be made to protect the traditional houses with wire fences around them. We have to act responsibly to preserve traditional houses. All types of weeds should be cut from inside the traditional houses and efforts should be made to keep the houses clean.

At the same time we have to resort to local government administration for proper preservation of traditional houses. So that traditional houses are properly preserved. Also I think our government should cooperate properly in preserving our local traditional houses. Because traditional houses are a precious resource for us. And it is our responsibility to preserve these precious resources. So we have to sincerely come forward to preserve the traditional houses.
