Brief Introduction.
What is gender inequality?

Gender inequality is the social phenomenon in which men and women are not treated equally.
Source

So, it is safe to say that the discriminate treatment with respect to gender variance, is what is widely termed gender inequality.

This results from our differences within the society, be it psychological, cultural, religious, biological, or much more. Today, the various genders experience partiality at different stages within the society, with the severity of impact varying across the globe. Gender variation plays so many roles within my vicinity and country as a whole, and as such, i'll talk more on how it's done in my country Cameroon 🇨🇲.

Does gender play a role in our everyday life?

Yes, gender plays a role in our daily life. Speaking in a generalized manner with relative to past and present observations and encounters, you can agree with me that a very high proportion of Males are expected to be powerful, brave and aggressive enough; whereas the Females are expected to always be welcoming, polite or dress in a particular way. This are aspects that are practiced on a global scale such that it has seemingly become a way of life. All lady is expected to wear make up or earrings whereas it is conditional for males, and in some countries it is completely prohibited. Some jobs are readily unavailable for the opposing gender for one reason or another.

How does the role or function in your country differ from gender to gender?

The roles in my country differs in so many ways, relative to gender variation.

  • Job Availability:
In my country, as well as so many other countries, we still experience certain offices and jobs assigned readily to a particular gender. In Cameroon, you will rarely see a female riding a commercial bike or vehicle (be it a van, bus or taxi). You are likely to never see a working female driver as a steady job. For males, you are very likely to never see a male secretary in any office. Sometimes it goes as far as not even getting to see a male hotline service agent.

  • Cultural Rules:
In many villages (Rural areas) in my country, certain practices and rules are passed on from generation to generation. One of the most common and most generalized rule throughout villages is that, only the male are entitled to heritage of properties. It is readily assumed that the lady would eventually get married and move into her husband's home.

  • Domestic Activities:
The females are expected to cook, clean, and take care of the kids, while the males are expected to handle the bills, as well as all handy works like repairs.

  • Dressing:
The Males are expected to wear trousers at all times, unlike the females that can were almost every attire.
Females are readily permitted to ear on make ups, but that's not the case for the Males. This has become a way of life and it is strictly followed without.

  • Religious Aspect:
Nowadays we find so many couples battling with the kind of religion they wish to pass on to their kids. This becomes much more difficult when couples are from different denominations. For instant, a Catholic father married to a Baptist mother would have different methods of raising their kids with respect to religion.
So, it has been made such that both couples come in conclusion on which denomination to both belong to. As such, the wife is most a times expected to make the sacrifice and join her husband.

  • Social Acts:
It can also be seen when the woman drops her Surname and picks up that of her husband. However, in other countries, the wife simply adds on her husband's surname to her names, without replacing any.
Males are expected to execute the marriage plans (take care of most bills, if not all), alongside pay the diary before marriage. Just about 5% of countries do this for the opposite gender.

Is it the same for other countries?

Yes, most of the points listed above are practiced in so many parts of the world, especially within my continent Africa. It has been practiced for so long that it has readily developed into a steady way of life for generations now.

What about Steemit?

Wow! Come to think of it, before now, such a thought has never crossed my mind. The first thing we must understand is that Steemit operates as a decentralized platform at all levels. It is a blockchain platform that goes about its activities everyday, irrespective of the gender of its author.
On steemit, everything you get is earned via hard work, consistency, and determination; our sex is not a criteria for any benefit or office. A good example is when applications are to be made, you will never see applicants for any position/office dwell on their sex type; most a times this part is omitted. I for one have never included my sex as a criteria during any application or work piece, rather i attach my work details which acts like a Steemit Resume.

Closure.

It is worth noting that despite all these gender variation activities, none of them are imposed on anyone; however if anyone tries to impose such a policy forcefully on another, he/she (the imposer) can be dragged to court if the grounds are valid.
My country Cameroon strongly kicks against all forms of gender inequalities, it's just a little sad that the policies of the old have been passed on such that it seemingly is a way of life. We are happy and have maximum respect for the opposite gender.

Thank you "Steem For Betterlife" for such a delicate yet necessary topic! I'd like to thank you all for the support, hope to get your thoughts as well. Cheers my friend 🥂

We have to live to help each other and respect each other, everything must be according to our respective abilities, if cooking is only a woman's business then there will be no such thing as a male master chef....
Good luck for the contest...

Nice work dr @b-naj. Your post are most influential. I have to agree with you on the religious aspect. Many people faced this problem nowadays and it has to be decided and let it be a free will for kids when they grow up.

You have spoken well, if only they can adopt this kind of mindset my brother. The world is really biased.

Hullo friend,i agree with you.
And so it should be done like that even at our work places, homes and community.
We are all equal in the eyes of God.

Great post as usual
All the best.

Job availability, social acts, dressing patterns, Religious aspects are different for male and female. You have introduced many important points.

Thank you my dear, i wonder if these points are also similar in your country, at some aspects.

Hola, @b-naj.
