Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W1 | Laughter is The Best Medicine
A child begins to smile and laugh within one to two months after their birth. They just look at the person holding them or scan the surrounding with their eyes, then they laugh aimlessly. And you join them too. It is like a therapy, whenever in a stress play with a child and laugh with them. You'll be at ease afterwards.
Children are joyful and laugh more than the serious adults and older people, who take life too seriously that they even forget to smile.
I remember childhood days when life didn't happen to us. Worries were a thing that we haven't had any idea about. Playing outside, doing stupid things, laughing with cousins and friends were the norms. And that was how life should be spent for the rest of the life.
As an adult, i see more serious people around me than laughing faces, like laughing seriousness is too contagious
I had a friend in my college, she didn't take anything seriously in life. She always found a humorous side of the problems to laugh. She was stubborn to fight for her rights but at the same time she was doing it so effortlessly. Laughing could be a reason behind it.
I remember couple of months ago, i read a fiction book. The chapter was so funny that i read it again and again laughing hard each time. Then i describe the whole chapter to my cousin, it was so funny that i found it difficult to complete the scene. I started laughing and so did she, without knowing the next scene and lines.
That's how contagious laughter is, on top of that it doesn't harm anyone
Before anyone else laugh at you and your circumstances, do it yourself. Laughing on a situation is ok, but doing it to demean someone in a big no no. Laughing on a person is not right, when you know that it's gonna hurt them.
Smiling and laughing is a hope teaching you that if life can give you a chance to smile, then surely it'll give you more in life.
I have an uncle who is suffering from mental ailment for 25years. Most of the time he wears frown on his forhead, smiles and laughs a little. I know this is a medical condition but too much seriousness and complaining opens the gate for no hope.
When we laugh in difficult times or even smile, our body relaxes the stiff muscles of our shoulders and face. It helps to improve the blood circulation towards the brain. Consequently, brain releases feel good hormones to combat stress and anxiety in the form of dopamine and oxytocin.
People who are suffering from depression and anxiety are not seen smiling or laughing often. They have too much of stress hormone called cortisol in their body. They feel mental ailments as well as physical pains too, due to their negative thought pattern. Laughing in a good company, or watching a funny movie or cartoon can reduce the pain in their body(endorphin hormone releases in the body that reduces pain).
Being a Muslim, our prophet (PBUH) was always seen smiling. We are asked to follow his teachings and action. So we follow his actions and throw a smile towards people like family, friends, and strangers. It helps to build a social bond with people. That reduces your feelings of being alone.
It has physical and psychological benefits.
Laughing relaxes your muscles of face, shoulders and abdomen. This is the region where all the organs of our body are working. Relaxed muscles around them help them work efficiently.
Laughing helps reduce congestion in the chest that ensures smooth breathing. Breathing takes in oxygen from the environment, so ultimately oxygen is rushed to every corner of the body through laughing.
Laughing relaxes the vessels through which blood passes. It reduces the chances of heart attack and high blood pressure. People who laugh more catch diseases less or are better to fight diseases.
Laughing is good for boosting immune system. It helps strengthening our body's army (white blood cells) to fight enemies (diseases).
Laughing reduces stress for a shorter periods of time. If we laugh religiously daily for few minutes, it could help to reduce depression, panic and anxiety.
Share a prank that you pranked on someone that makes you laugh even now when you think back about it?
I did a prank on my female cousin 10 years ago. She was about to get married. One day, i received a sms in my phone mobile saying,
Dear costumers, you can(mimic) get another number on your current number while dialling this code.
I ignored it and was about to delete it when a thought came to my mind like an electric shock. I dialled the code and purchased the another number. Now I was able to call people with my same number and it showed the other person another number.
Teasing calls were very common back then because social media had not got the hype as it has now
Now recall my about to married cousin, i messaged her pretending to be her fiance. I told my mother and another cousin about this. Later on, everyone knew about this prank except her.
I continued talking to her. She (engaged cousin) was very comfortable with another cousin of mine, told her that your future brother in law wants to talk on the call. What do i do? I have never done this before. I was laughing when i listen to her remarks from my cousin.
One day we persued our male cousin to do a prank call because we wanted a male voice on the call. He agreed. So the situation was on one side of the call was my cousin alone and on the other side we all were. Telling him ask this and that. When we asked him to ask her favourite food she was so confused and replied potatoes instead of French fries. There we were laughing hard.
Later on i had to end this prank because her mother somehow got this news from my cousin. So we stopped this out of fear.
But my cousin still didn't know about this prank. One night we were all (who participated in the prank) sitting in the room. We decided to babble out this secret. I was younger than her. When i said, this was my idea and everyone just came in afterward.
She was so stunned that we made fool out of her. Her shy voice and appearance all vanished at that time. She was looking like a novice instead with concealed smile. We all started laughing very hard so did she.

Laughing boost our immune system .It heals our wounds and make us to forget about our past sad experiences.Laughter is the best medicine so far and it part of us
Well if folks have any idea about laughing benefits, they'll never frown frequently again.
Laugh at yourself, it's a very common saying here, a way of saying that before you laugh at someone else look at yourself, but you know it works and it's better to laugh at yourself before someone else does it haha.
The jokes in the family are always memories that last and in the meetings they come to light, they have no expiration date, bad is that when we are always the target of them and we wish they do not come to the surface.
Anyway laughing is the best therapy, the best medicine.
Yes laugh at yourself first, and if people do that too join them, this way you'll give them a sense that it's not worth teasing you baby, chances are that you guys will become friends in future too. Hehehe
Your post is very well presented. Your cousin and nephew's smile is also very beautiful. We all should always be happy. It is very difficult to live without happiness. Thank you for sharing such a nice post with us.
Very well, some people choose this difficult path and everything is miserable around them. It's mandatory to smile and laugh around such people to let them know another path of living life.
