The elimination of traditional markets due to the presence of modern markets

If we're honest, today's world economy is actually owned and controlled by some super-rich people who have very large capital and business networks that cover the whole world. One of the battles I see is the battle between modern markets and traditional markets, where modern markets are representation of the capitalists owned by the owners of large capital dealing with traditional markets where small traders sell their livelihoods from the results of selling in traditional markets which are only sufficient for their daily needs

IMG_20220323_103020.jpg

The market is one of the main elements driving economic and business activities in an area and a country, the presence of a market is absolutely necessary to meet the various needs of the community. The market is a meeting place for sellers and buyers who bargain with each other by selling and providing various commodities needed by consumers. Public

The history of market development is increasingly advanced and modern, I have seen the following phenomena for myself and I feel the presence of modern markets such as malls, supermarkets and minimarkets is slowly displacing traditional markets which has a huge impact on the economy of the weak economic community, especially traders who depend on their livelihoods in traditional market

This article is a source of anxiety. I see the phenomenon of increasingly massive penetration and expansion from modern markets to regions to the sub-district level. Even in one sub-district, like where I live, there are several modern markets, which of course results in a decline in the turnover of traditional markets.

Traditional markets are often identified with less clean or slum areas where the difference with modern markets which have large funding and capital, has a clean and very comfortable place for buyers. In modern markets such as Alfamart or Indomaret there is no direct interaction between sellers and buyers. All item price tags are already listed on the item you want to buy, so there is no bargaining between the seller and the buyer

The modern market is much liked by the rich or the middle to upper economic class although the price is a little more expensive in my opinion they choose to buy something in the modern market because of the convenience of the place which is Full AC and also the payment facilities do not only serve payments by cash but also with other facilities. credit cards and others

In addition, all goods have been properly grouped according to their respective needs, making it easier for buyers to buy goods in modern markets, which makes the upper middle class prefer to shop in modern markets.

One thing that I highlight in this article is the increasing number of modern markets, which are generally international networks of banks or national corporate networks owned by conglomerates with large capital, so that it will make it more difficult for traders in traditional markets, this condition is clearly not good because more traders who depend their life by trading in traditional markets

The decline in sales turnover in traditional markets certainly has a bad impact on many traders. I interviewed traders who used to sell in traditional markets, one of which was my villager, Mr. Imran, who told me that with the presence of modern markets such as Indomaret and Alfamart, his sales turnover was also decreasing. According to him, his other friends also complained

Based on my interview with Mrs. Aminah, who sells at the Simpang Mulia market and has a small shop, she really hopes that the government will make rules and policies so that modern markets cannot easily undermine traditional market consumers.

In my opinion, the government should side with traditional markets and must set policies that are pro to the people because the modern market as I have mentioned above belongs to several conglomerates who have very large funds and the economic effect is not too large because it only employs a large number of employees. small, while the profits every year in very large amounts will return to the conglomerates, so that the country's economy is controlled by only a few conglomerates.

In contrast to the modern market, the traditional market is a gathering place. Many small traders with little capital with quite a lot of family dependents they sell just to meet their daily needs if their sales turnover is decreasing because of the presence of modern markets to the sub-district level even to a lower level. lower will certainly have a significant economic impact by decreasing the income of small traders

In my opinion, the government should revitalize and build traditional markets that look shabby and dirty to be cleaner and neater, conduct management training for traders so that people will be enthusiastic to shop at traditional markets and automatically the sales turnover of traders in traditional markets will not increase. decreased So that the income of these small traders can be stable and maintained in order to meet their daily needs

IMG_20220215_163938.jpg

I also interviewed buyers who were shopping at the traditional market where I live who complained that the market conditions were chaotic and dirty and emitted an unpleasant odor from the garbage that was not managed properly in the market. convenience of buyers so that buyers prefer to shop at traditional markets which will help small traders to earn a decent income

IMG_20220423_164740.jpg

In my opinion, the government should regulate and limit the number of modern markets in an area or in a place so that it does not interfere or reduce sales turnover from traditional markets. justice and welfare for all, no one is exploited and no one widens the gap between the rich and the poor, it should not happen that the rich get richer and the poor get worse because various types of businesses and businesses are controlled by a few people.

Hopefully my short article can be useful and can be of concern and attention for all of us and especially the government to make policies that are pro-people and make economic policies that are in favor of the small people, especially in the issue of traditional markets versus modern markets.

In my opinion, the government should regulate and limit the number of modern markets in an area or in a place so that it does not interfere or reduce sales turnover from traditional markets

I think this is a great suggestion, the modern market is gradually killing the traditional markets, and most of this traditional traders are very poor then survive with the little sales from the traditional markets, if the government can reduce the numbers of modern market in each state or city, this will give room for the traditional traders to make sales.

You've shared a wonderful article, thank you for sharing...

almost all countries experience the same thing, we are not against the rich and investment, but how the traditional market with poor traders continues to grow and be protected must be our concern,
