Is Beauty A Physical Attribute?

You would come across the hackneyed phrase, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." The perception of beauty varies from culture to culture and country to country. It may even vary within the members of your own family. What do we perceive as beautiful? Is it the just the physical looks of a person or is there more to it?

You may consider someone beautiful even though your friends may say otherwise. Sometimes, someone who does not look beautiful at your first meeting may look beautiful as you get to know the person.

Can an old person in her 80s look beautiful without makeup? If yes, what makes her beautiful?

Can you say a person is beautiful based just on the person's character alone without looking into the person's physical attributes? Or is beauty the sum total of all attributes of a person including the physical attributes?

Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

By "beauty" we mean the physignomical appearance of one as it appears to the mental harmony of the beholder ! This harmony could differ from one person to another ,usually informed by culture and what is generally accepted from ages in that environment!

This is why the common adagw you wuotef is very true !!

This is why to the average African , a plump figured lady is always beautiful , but a skinny one is less priced .

This may be why I am a chubby figured lady PREFARING over their less endowed companions !!

But what about you ??🤣🤣

A well thought out answer, @whyaskwhy.

Do you think the mental harmony of a person could change over a period as the person gets to know the other better? In other words, could a person consider someone beautiful today but not on someday later or vice versa?

Thanks for your contribution.

Beauty as defined earlier has the potential of changing across epochs because of changes of physiognomy as aging compels . Thus a "beautiful" lady of yesterday could transform an "ungly" witch of today .

This is why , we ought to seek for inner intrinsic beauty , conferred by positive social and behavioral attributes of characters which are not ephemeral , but permanent !
