Introduction

Good day steemians, I hope everyone is ok? Today I will be sharing the details of my favorite novel with you all in this contest. The name of my favorite novel is "The Evil That Men Do.." It is a prose novel written by Stephen Ekiugbo. I want to also thank @stmpak.wit for this awesome contest.

Narration of the novel

This novel is talking about the story of a young man known as Jack Rob. Jack is the first child of his parents, he only has a younger brother known as Harry. Jack father "Chief Rob" is a very wealthy man, he has an estate, many cars as well as other assets. Chief Rob came from a poor background, he hasn't acquired all his riches when he got married to his wife Chief (Mrs.) Rob, he was once a humble school teacher who later resigned his job and took up full-time business of trading in building materials. It was this business that made him wealthy.

Jack on his own part was born when his parents became wealthy, at an early age he started observing that his parents are very wealthy and had authority over the servants who are working for them. Jack became very disrespectful to his parent's servants at an early age. He will command them unnecessarily as if they were his mate. Jack also became selfish and spiteful, he developed hatred for the servants, the poor and the weak in the society as he gets matured.

Harry is a very respectful, jovial, humble, gentle and honest boy, he was becoming their parent's favorite and this made Jack the first son, to have hatred for his own brother Harry. He thought to himself that his parents were for his and his alone, why then should Harry come and share them with him. One day when Jack was just seven and Harry was just four, Jack was in the in which he shares with Harry.

Jack saw Harry through the window in the compound, moving towards the swimming pool, he looked around and discovered nobody was present. Instead of Jack to raise alarm or rush out to prevent Harry from falling inside the pool, he remained where he was, hoping Harry will get drowned and died so that he can be the only child. Jack was disappointed when Ajoke the gardener saw Harry and rushed to prevent him from entry the pool.

When Jack was in JSS 3, he joined a cult group known as The Blackarm, he became very aggressive as a cultist as soon as he entered SSS 3, then he was in the same class with Harry because of his unseriousness. Jack and his cult members will steal in the public, molest innocent people and they were all smokers. Jack will always arrive home late and Harry was the one opening the door him in the middle of the night almost everyday.

Few years later, Harry was now in the university, while Jack was still struggling to pass his SSCE exams. Harry wants to be a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Harry started studying hard in school while Jack and his gang were terrorising the whole area. Few years later Jack started thinking of a way he could also enter the university. Chief Rob was always disturbing and insulting him for not being an undergraduate st his age.

Jack decided to bring the issue to their leader shadow in their cult group. Shadow told him to pay someone clever and intelligent to write his SSCE and JAMB examinations for him and Jack agreed to the idea and sticked to the plan. Jack finally entered the university. Jack became more dangerous and unserious in the university.
Harry who was now in law school was doing very well and respected his lecturers and fellow students. He heard rumors of his brother being the leader of The Blackarm. Harry's desire was to complete law school, become a lawyer, raise his own family and distance himself from Jack. Harry finally achieved his goals and got married to Joy a girl he met at the university.

Chief Rob who's wife had died many years ago due to breast cancer, was feeling worried about Jack's behaviors. He confronted Jack one day but Jack ended up walking out of him. Jack on his own part has been trying to assassinate Harry but all his plans were unsuccessful. Jack decided to receive help from a juju priest and the priest gave him a charm to bury in his father's compound, he told Jack that if the first person among him and his brother steps his feet in the compound, the person will die immediately.

Jack forgot about the charm he buried and he rushed to his father's compound to take his pistol and hide it somewhere else so that he won't be caught, immediately he entered the compound, he died. Shadow and the other cultist were caught and charged to court while Jack's lifeless body was found in his father's compound.

Conclusion

The shame that his son brought to the finally broke Chief Rob and he died and willed all his property to Harry and gave his entire estate to the government to appease the land for the crimes of Jack against humanity.
