Legal Uncertainty Is A Basic Problem Of Crypto Trading

In some countries out there still have quite a dominant problem with Crytocurrency trading transactions. Some countries have made regulations to stop various transactions related to Cryptocurrency. Crypto trading is considered one of the illegal transactions. Meanwhile, in some other countries, they are on the verge of uncertainty with laws regarding crypto trading.

This is the base of fear in some people, including those who have extraordinary wealth. Legal uncertainty prevents them from investing in Cryptocurrency. Maybe they chose the safe path instead of getting involved with a law that would bring them to court and end up in bars.

It happened in several countries that I do not wish to name. I position myself neutrally so that there are no errors in interpreting my writing. Then the question is, what about my country in Indonesia?

I wrote this article to provide education to newcomers in the Crypto world and some of the investors we met at several meetings. This will provide an answer for the concerns they are currently facing. And will reduce their fear of investing with Crypto, including attracting them to see STEEM as a profitable future asset.

Regulations to Legalize Crypto in Indonesia?

In Indonesia, crypto was a problem at first, because it was seen as damaging the economic system and the value of the Rupiah currency at that time. However, as time went on, the government was able to accept Crypto's presence. Here, Crypto is seen as one of the tradable digital assets. Crypto is seen as a commodity future asset that has an exchange rate.

The good news is that on December 17, 2020, the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) has recognized 229 types of crypto that can be traded in Indonesia. This is as written in Bappebti Regulation Number 7 of 2020 concerning Determination of List of Crypto Assets that can be Traded on the Physical Market of Crypto Assets.

So, with these regulations in place, in Indonesia there are 229 types of crypto that have been legal to trade. While crypto assets that have not been legally registered can apply for registration for listing with the conditions set by Bappebti. This institution has the authority to supervise and control the investment of crypto assets and other long-term investment commodities.

Among the duties and authorities of this institution are:

Ratify the Rules and Regulations for the Futures Exchange and the Futures Clearing House as well as the Futures Contract that will be traded on the Futures Exchange, including its amendments.

Ensure that the Futures Exchange and the Futures Clearing House implement all stipulated rules and regulations as well as carry out intensive supervision and imposition of strict sanctions for violations. source

With the presence of Bappebti Regulation Number 7 of 2020, there is no more reason to be afraid to make crypto investments. Indonesia already has legal certainty about cryptocurrency trading. This legal certainty will also have a good enough impact on economic growth in Indonesia and support the national development of the trade and investment sector.
