It's time to fight with plagiarism again

Most of the users know that since the Mosquito Squishers community has been closed and mods & admins left the Steemit, we do not have any team that would be fighting with plagiarism on the platform. Sure, it's the responsibility of the communities and their admins, but... first of all, not all communities are equally good at finding plagiarism, and secondly, without the reports, an abuser who is caught on the plagiarism in one community simply starts posting in another, where nobody knows them yet.

My suggestion is to create a universal system of fighting plagiarism that could be used by all, or at least most of the admins of the communities. Thanks to proper communication, the person who is sharing plagiarized content in one place would be marked with the warning in multiple communities and when the user will be sharing plagiarized content several times, he/she would be banned in most places on the platform. I assume @steemitblog could motivate admins and mods to join the project, announcing that participating in it will be taken into consideration while selecting the communities for booming support.

Does it sound interesting? If so, please read the details and consider if you want to join the project.

  1. I will create a community where every week I will be sharing an updated list of the abusers from the platform. Abusers will be found in private investigations but also, I will include the information about the plagiarized content found by admins and mods of all communities that participate in the project. To do that, I will be in touch with those admins on discord, asking them about the abusers (and links to plagiarized posts) once per week, a day before publishing the list.

  2. The rules that describe the abuser will be universal in all the communities. It will be described in my community and pinned to the wall. For instance: using photos that are not on the CC license is wrong, but those who do that should just be directed to the proper article where copyrights are explained, there is no need to mark them as the abuser unless, let's say, they participated in the photo contest and wrote in the description that they made this photography on their own, while in fact it's taken from the Internet.
When someone is sharing content where more than 50% of the text is plagiarized, it is clearly the abuse.

  3. The rules of reacting to plagiarism will also be universal and properly described. It will include: muting the post immediately, marking the person as the abuser, and sending the information to me, so I can include it on the next list, finally downvoting all the rewards from this post (if the SP of admin/community account will not be enough to downvote it, all admins of the communities that participate in the project will be obliged to help).

  4. People who will be sharing plagiarized content will be properly marked not only in the community where they cheated but in all communities that participate in the project (at least in those to which that user subscribed). Mark will look like that:
    (P1) - first plagiarism detected
    (P2) - second plagiarism detected
BANNED - third plagiarism detected + banning in all the communities and downvoting ALL the pending rewards.

  5. All the admins of the communities in the program will have to check the newest list regularly once per week and upgrade the labels of the Steemians who were cheating. The day before publishing the list they will have to share with me links to the detected plagiarized content (if there is any) on Discord. If contact with one of the admins or mods will constantly be impossible, that community will be excluded from the project.

  6. Private investigations, like on Mosquito Squishers, will be allowed, although it will be recommended to share the publication only when someone is 100% sure that described person is the abuser. For example - to detect content farming it's not enough just to prove that some accounts are sending the money to one user as he/she may help them in withdrawing the cash. If all those accounts additionally are using a similar style of writing, making the same mistakes in English or Spanish, or using the same photos, it's most likely content farming. All the private investigations will be double-checked and if they will prove the abuse, it will be included on the list.

  7. There will be no users above the law. That means that plagiarism will be prohibited for new and old users, for those who use the bid bots, for people with high and low reputations. Simply for everyone. We can't make excuses just because someone is long enough on the platform, participate in club100, or recently bought some STEEM.

What do you think?

What do you think about that project? Would you be interested in joining it (as the admins, mods, but also users with higher SP who could help in downvoting)? Do you have any questions or do you think something else should be included? The community will be created on the weekend and more details will be presented then. For now, I am talking about the project in general, I would like to know your opinion and see how many communities would be interested in fighting plagiarism together. Constructive critic most welcomed, excitement as well :)

I will try to make a list of communities that would be interested in joining the anti-plagiarism project. Please let me know in the comment if you are in or out. I'm tagging admins to make sure that publication won't be skipped by them.

The control of Abusers should be done on professional level and the owner of the Steemit Inc. should be interested in doing that and be supported by users:

  • The Steemit Team should hire the staff who will be doing that as their job, they should not depend on posting and getting paid.
  • For reporting there should be a system where you can go like link with the form that you can fill, again like in old Steemit time. You normally should describe what abuse it is and submit appropriate link.
-This information normally was picked up by Steemcleaners and the abuser was downvoted with high SP acocunt of Steemcleaners and also the account was blocked.

I remember how it was in the past, because our own content was also copied and presented as an abuser. After we reported and slept over the night, in the morning the user was dealt with.

I do not think creating a community, gathering information and doing post will be good. Also I do not think that we should use our small Steem Power for downvote of endless abusers. Then we never will be able to support the real good users.

On other hand many of us have full time job and family, I do not want to spend the rest of my time with searching for Abusers.

It should be done on a professional level but it is not. For two years. The question is if we should try to fight the abuse in a limited, unperfect way, on our own, or if we should wait another two years hoping that Steemit Inc will change its mind and do something about it.

I remember how it was in the past, because our own content was also copied and presented as an abuser. After we reported and slept over the night, in the morning the user was dealt with.

Yes, but that community does not exist anymore. We have 3 000 individuals and very few users who want to make something for the community. It won't change in years (if it will change at all).

I do not think creating a community, gathering information and doing post will be good. Also I do not think that we should use our small Steem Power to downvote endless abusers. Then we never will be able to support the real good users.

I'm willing to spend part of my SP to do so, especially that as the admin of the community, I have to do it anyway. That's also why I am asking admins of other communities to do it together - that way nobody will have to spend all their SP just to downvote. Basically, not much will change because admins should downvote the plagiarism in their communities anyway. The thing that will change is the communication between the groups so the abuser blocked in one place won't be able to move to another community to plagiarize with the fresh start.

On other hand many of us have full time job and family, I do not want to spend the rest of my time with searching for Abusers.

I do not have the full time job, so I am willing to take this responsibility and simplify it as much as possible. The help of the others would be limited to report what they are finding anyway and maybe click downvote once or twice in a week if someone else won't be able to remove the rewards on their own in his/her community. 15 minutes weekly, the rest I can do.

Thanks for mentioning me.
Yes, I am developing the topic of checking the uniqueness of posts.
I have already achieved some success. And I improve further.
For the last week I have been busy with the issue of transferring to a separate server and this has made my work somewhat difficult.

However, the process of work on checking uniqueness is underway.
Thanks for the support.

You are lucky and nice post

Thank you, good tip!
@alexmove - do you have a discord or telegram where I could find you? Or if you don't want to share it here, in public, could you contact me on my discord (papi.mati#3791)?

Yes!
My telegram @alexmove12345
Thank you

Dear @steemcurator01 Sir I participated in #Club75 and got power off again. Before that I participated in #Club5050 four times in total and did not get any votes. I have given a lot of Sp power off but I am not getting any support. Please sir I am participating in #club75 again now and I have given power off. Sir, please give me some support. My financial situation is very bad.

This is My Power Up post:

https://steemit.com/hive-153970/@ns-porosh/club75-or-or-again-171steem-power-up-or-or-total-3640-steem-power

Sir!
I am working in Steemit-Garden to give daily-report on the #club5050-club75-club100 tags users on the check their powerup and Transaction Details. And I improve further.
So Give support on those post.

Very clear explanation!

Nice project, I read and tried to understand the comments from @stef1 and the replies from @papi.mati, they all seem reasonable.. I will keep an eye on the progress of this project and maybe support it.. @steemcurator1 also supports this initiative, good sign.

Congrats on the amazing work @alexamove, hopefully the results will be even more perfect..

A very beautiful plan. I am not a community admin. Still speaking on my own. I think steemit should make the same rules as before. Such as copy, paste. And marking him by the bot account, letting him know through comments, marking him by downvoting from the bot account if he violates the limit 2/3 times, and so on and so forth.

It is a nice idea dear friend and I will not surprised if we all join hands together and work as professionals to fight against abuse and since Sc is in support, then you can count on me to help in the battle field.

Thank you! If you are interested in that sort of help, In this post you may read how to join the downvote curation trail.

Greetings my friend @papi.mati.

I love the idea of more users joining this important task of tracking content to verify its authenticity, however I think it is not necessary to generate a new community to carry out this activity, we could use the Steemit Feedback community if friend Steemcurator01 thinks it is convenient, to submit any report. Usually, when I find a case of abuse or plagiarism I copy the community administrator and friend @Steemcurator01, so that they apply the pertinent actions.

We know it is a difficult task but we have to face it, otherwise it will spread like a cancer that could destroy the integrity of the platform.

It is important to add that when a publication with plagiarized information is found, an investigation should be carried out in several of the user's publications to see if he/she is incurring in this activity, showing it if necessary through a publication as the friend @stef1 does. This will allow more users to see the plagiarizers.

I believe it's good to have an account that can be tagged when someone will find the plagiarism like it was with endplagiarism and endingplagiarism. Now, for that, the new community and account are very important because tagging me or anyone else after stepping on the foot of some bigger player who is cheating would affect downvoting my posts by the cheater and decreasing the rewards + in some cases, reputation. I have already created the community and new account yesterday, although I'm still working on the proper description and tutorial.

We know it is a difficult task but we have to face it, otherwise it will spread like a cancer that could destroy the integrity of the platform.

Exactly, that's my thoughts! Thank you for that opinion!

Absolutely - the date, link, the form of the abuse (plagiarism, content farming, spam, etc), marking how many times it happened in the past, and most importantly informing others about the status. Everything has to be as transparent as possible.

I have included this post in the 31th issue of Steem News Magazine For Steemit Platform | January 22, 2022.

According to my view, no point of making communities and publishing posts about abusers. You need to have Higher SP account to eliminate them from posting. Actually Steemit team should be powered up a account and a team to do this task.

Big abusers, true - if someone shares plagiarism and uses bidbots earning 30 usd+, we won't be able to take down that reward, especially that the response for my post is quite poor and not much admins are willing to cooperate.

As the admin I detect plagiarism once per week though. I don't have a problem with muting the users, downvoting rewards and blocking Steemians, but they move somewhere else, where admins are not the best in checking plagiarism and they continue stealing. That project would help blocking abusers in multiple communities at the same time.

Yes, we all know the official account should be created. It's not though. That has been said hundred times in the last two years and nothing has been done. Waiting for the change that may never come is not the best solution, better to take it in our hands.

I think you do not appreciate the power of the community. If admins of only 50 out of 77 communities would join the project, our total SP would be equal half a million or more. Add to that community account of those communities that because of exodus does not have enough active members and don't use their full SP (plenty of those with less than 100 members), we have over a million SP. The problem is that on Steemit very little think about the common good and community understood as all the platform members, everyone is focused on themselves and growing own SP. While thinking in that way, nothing is possible indeed and we can continue to wait for our savior on a white horse that will never come... Steemit was created as the idealistic dream, then somehow has changed into the business - all what I'm asking is to come back with that project to the original dream and do something together.

If the Steemit team don't do anything to that Only solution is making downvote trails. If anyone able to make downvote trails like upvotes we may be able to have good power. Trails should be works only for downvotes and then everyone will join because they don't loose anything form Dv Vp. Personally I will be joining with Our full power for a downvote trail and if you need a team member, I also there to support against the abusers. But for that we need everyone to collaborate. Count on me as a team member if you need.

Btw I was going here to propose the downvote trails, I can build a new one that only works for downvotes, this way we will avoid that users abuse this trail, I can help you @papi.mati with development on this project.

Only solution is making downvote trails

The curation trail exclusively to downvote sounds like a very interesting idea!

Count on me as a team member if you need

Perfect, thank you!

Count me in too for a downvote trail.
We always stand against plagiarism and wish to make steemit stronger.
